that is incorrect. i have worked in A/V retail and any item that is returned (even if in a sealed box) is opened and inspected. the item inside is checked against the serial number on the box to confirm the return along with any accessories. so ANYTHING that they receive in return is not sold as new. It could be sold as "OPEN BOX" but it is illegal to sell it as new.

The units that are being sold on woot are brand new, sealed, never used, never sold items.

Is this despite the statement on the listing that says 3 year limited Pioneer warranty?

This is BRAND NEW not refurbished. It is new and comes with 3 year Pioneer warranty (Linked directly on the woot page for this item).
https://www.pioneerhomeusa.com/warranty/

Refurbs only have 1 year warranty (See link above).

I've been buying from Woot for YEARS without a single issue. They even accepted a return on a $650 scooter outside the return window. Every time a Woot deal comes up you can count on the BS comments to commence. Ignore them. Walmart on the other hand...lol.

Hey there fakenews.

Woot/Amazon does not sell things as new that are open/refurbished/tampered except for when Amazon does it as a mistake (thinking something was returned factory sealed and it was not). doing otherwise is in fact illegal and Amazon is far too big to evade the FTC hammer if they did this intentionally.

Fear mongering from Reddit isn't helpful and, rather, is harmful as misinformation often is.

Your points about returns and shipping are accurate and folks should be aware.
Probably right, but I think it happens more often than people think. I've had 2 obvious returns-sold-as-new from Amazon.com. One was a monitor a few years ago that was packaged ridiculously poorly, with twisted up tape very badly wrapped around the stand, no cables in any bags.

Recently it happened again with an electric pepper/salt grinder, it looked new but smelled of peppercorn. Shaking it, I heard bits of pepper still inside and a flake fell out.

That's only the ones I knew about, because they were very obvious...

Probably not unique to Amazon either though, my guess is the industry is full of "illegal activity".

Yeah well I wouldn't be so certain about that. "illegal" and impossible are two separate things, and I don't believe there is anything illegal about restocking new returns. Big box stores do this every day. And even if a store's policy is to inspect each return, that relies on the return clerks to do their job properly every time.

Even Amazon restocks new returns. if you've ever received a box with an "LPN" barcode on it, that's a restocked return. It's my understanding that Woot sources overstock from Amazon, so by extension, it's possible Amazon's customer returns made it into Woot's inventory.

A single one can accept 2 channels. That's how I'm running them right now. So if you need to drive 3 speakers you need to buy 2. I only need them to drive 2 speakers and a single unit works fine.

As far as 14awg goes it's plenty of my needs. My fronts are only about 8-10 feet away from the amp.

Buying a more expensive unit just to get preouts seems superfluous to me considering I don't need preouts for all channels. If you are running a 7 channel external amp for example then yeah I would agree. But considering the next step up is like 1K+, I would rather just spent the extra 40 instead. But everyone's needs is different.
So this would be what I need to send my front speaker output (through this) to my Crown dedicated two channel amp? I currently have an SC-95 in my Livingroom, but am pondering getting another 505 (or a 305 if this will do the trick for me) like my man cave. It's only a 5.1 setup in my LR, so I don't need all the extra channels, but still would like the extra juice for my towers (Polk LSiM 705s).

Is it possible to use an external amp for the 2 L and R channels, then biamp the center channel? I would like more power for the center channel, but think I may need a unit with preamps

I don't recall an option in my 505 to bi-amp the center.

And not questioning your decision, but the center is where all your dialogue comes from. Typically, it's not that boom/explosion stuff that you want to feel… just hear with clarity.

My pleasure. If I wasn't in bed for the night, I'd go double check my 505 to see if you can even biamp the fronts anymore. I THINK you can. I'm even more certain that my older SC-95 allowed for the fronts, but not the center.

Valid point but He might be using a tower speaker as center though?

Yep I believe so, i see no problems with using a pro amp with a home audio receiver. The Russound ADP is basically the same kind of device you see inside your receiver. Think of it as an external hard drive of sorts.

Got this last go around. I still gotta open and set it up. They shipped it in the factory box with a label on it FYI.
So.... they could have sent you a box full of bricks and you might be past the return window!!

From quickly going through the specs, the receiver isn't capable of doing 7.1.4 with an external amp, correct? It doesn't have pre out for 11 channels?
