It's mentioned in CNet review that I linked:

48.2 oz = 6.025 cups
I prefer the metal thermal carafes to the glass ones. The thermal carafes don't have a heat pad that can burn the coffee, I like them also because I can brew a pot and take it to my office and have hot coffee all morning and into the afternoon.

As for Ninja coffee makers, I had the very first version of this, while I loved it it had its problems with leaking and not brewing full pots after a while. Reading online this seems to be a common occurrence back then, I don't hear as much about those issues anymore so I am guessing they corrected those issues. My first ninja was a glass carafe as well which I did not like as much as the metal.

At this price I am a little tempted even if it is refurbished. Keep in mind this model does not have a frother is that matters to you.

This will be my last reply because I don't want to steer the conversation away from this awesome deal. If you disagree, so be it.

Reducing your exposure by not buying plastic, it's the equivalent of me handing you a towel to dry off while you're in the ocean and the world is already underwater.

As long as you're literally not eating physical plastic and going out of your way to melt plastic and styrofoam into your food, that's as good as it gets. You're still ingesting plastic regardless.

Are your clothes made of polyester? If it is, your breathing that in as well. Dust and lint isn't just dead human skin. It's plastic!

edit: I should also acknowledge that nobody freaked out. it was an exaggeration in my part to illustrate a point I was making
You're getting dangerously close to a "why bother trying/all-or-nothing" mentality. I find this to be one of the most common reasons people give up on their goals.

It's very beneficial to realize that even incremental changes can create vastly different outcomes.

If people are concerned about plastics, they very much can limit their exposure by choosing metal, glass, cotton, etc. No need to talk people into not trying at all. Even those minor changes can shift their mindset and bleed into other areas of life.

Unless these have an improved version of their water revisor I would avoid these. They are known to clog and you have to use vinegar and contently press the valve that allows water into the tube to get the coffee maker working again.

I have this and it worked great for 6-10 months but now the clean light turns on after pretty much every other use, and nothing I do to clean it makes it last more than a couple uses before it turns back on and prevents you from making coffee.
Get some coffee pot descaler, keep running the solution through the system (don't do the rinse cycle). Just keep pouring the warm acid back in and run Clean cycle again

After 5 cycles, you can go ahead and finish with the Flush/Rinse cycle

If you have really hard water, you might preemptively do a mega cleaning every 4 months BEFORE the warning light even comes on.

I have the CM401 (w/ frother) I would say that its a decent coffee machine. You have to care for a bit more by wiping down the drip plate. I don't know if i would buy this without the frother but overall most of my friends seem to enjoy the coffee this makes. Its water reservoir makes for easy fills. As a solo coffee maker, i'd give it a 7.5/10. As the complete system with the frother, 9/10. I use the frother A LOT.

Ok coffeemaker, not great. Makes better coffee than our previous Hamilton Beach, but not as good as the old Cuisinart we had before that. We've only been using it about 6 months for 1-2 pots per day, but no reliability issues as of yet.

We have an old Ninja with Specialty button. We use that option 2-3 times a day in our family. Unfortunately this model doesn't have that option :/

Eyeing this. Anyone have experience? We have a keurig duo that doesn't get very hot and doesn't make the best single cups of coffee. How are the singles cups with this? Does the hot water touch plastic?
I have the first gen and its still going strong. The metal mesh filter did break eventually so I just use paper filters now -- easier cleanup anyway. I mainly brew my mixture of ground/espresso ground on "over ice" setting to make iced coffee. Smells and tastes delicious.

Good when it works, but after about 9 months I had nothing but headaches. Keurig K Duo has treated me well for close to 2 years now.

Just something to consider: if you have hard water like I did, calcium build up will do a number to the internals.
I never used tap water. Started with distilled water and now reverse osmosis water to avoid build up.

I picked up the CP307 in a recent sale (Thermal Carafe, with frother that I haven't been using yet). Here's my thoughts on that similar model:
  • The most important thing to do before making any coffee in it is to run the High Altitude calibration cycle. I failed to do that at first, and it caused brew cycles to take much longer and the coffee to taste off no matter what other variables I tweaked, simply due to over-extraction.
  • I use filtered water only, because hard water is bad on both the machine and on flavor.
  • I changed the setting for drip stop to allow an extra minute for coffee to drip out of the beans before the cycle completes.
  • I use a burr grinder to ensure consistent grind and flavor.
  • It brews very hot, and the thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot for multiple hours, and warm even until the end of the day.
  • The machine is easy to clean. Four total parts, a simple bottle brush does the trick.
  • The flavor of the coffee is very good if you get the grind and water-to-bean ratio right.
Personally, I think it's worth the money if you appreciate a good cup of black coffee, and it also improves the flavor of crafted coffee drinks.

Fwiw, we have a Ninja coffee maker that's over 6 years old and still going strong. We wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Edit: then original metal filter lasted about 4 years and we replaced with a generic from Publix.

We have one and loved it, but even though we use filtered water only in the water tank, it regularly gets green algae build up and there's a plastic bubble at the bottom where the water transfers out that collects the green stuff and cannot be removed to clean. The only thing I've figured out to clean it is to load the tank with hot soapy water and then jam a compressed air straw into the tiny opening at the bottom and use the air to agitate the heck out of it.

I had this same issue after a few years and just doing the white vinegar mix from the manual. After a while the light would turn back on the next brew after running a cleaning cycle.

Using descaler it took five weeks for the light to turn back on. I now do monthly cycles with vinegar, and descaler every six months.

A trick I found that works when mine started doing that is to remove the water reservoir and then put your mouth on the hole that sucks the water in (you'll see it once you remove the reservoir) and blow hard into the hole with your mouth right up on it. It's tricky to get the right angle to blow into it with enough force, but you'll know you're doing it when coffee starts leaking out of the area where to basket is. Make sure you have a cup handy to catch the drips. My mom and I both had the same issue and this fixed both of our machines.
