I purchased this last time it was on sale. I've noticed that it will re-negotiate ALL connections whenever anything is plugged in or unplugged. I'm not sure if that's what you were seeing, but it is a behavior that I believe is as designed because of the varying amperage ratings depending on which ports are used. So far mine has worked well. Charged two phones, a smartwatch, and a Steam Deck at the same time just fine.
It has to do this.
Since it is a 100W charger that can output 100W, it has to re-adjust each time a device connects/disconnects. It is annoying, but it is the nature of the beast

i dont believe this charger is good for what it is rated for ... i bought one and when i connect my laptop (65W USB C) along with a small headset (USB A) it keeps disconnecting back and forth , i wouldnt recommend it on the contrary my 65W smaller Anker charger works like a charm

Double check if this supports 12v via USB C PD. I believe I have the corded version of this and it doesn't support 12v.

Strange coincidence, my RMA just got approved today. It was always disconnecting and reconnecting but finally got fed up when it wouldn't even charge with one device. Charger would get super hot, light would come on, but no output in power. Tried with known good cables into each port one at a time and nothing. Do not recommend. Note to everyone that bought this, you have a one year warranty, RMA it as soon as you notice problems.

To the person saying that the connect and disconnect is normal, no it's not, not in my experience. I use my anker charger regularly and do not have that issue.

returning to monoprice sounds expensive.
I bought a wide monitor for $250, didn't like it, it would have cost me $200 shipping to return.
dumped it on a swap site for $100.

I bought 2 of these and returned it. Both had a problem where it would keep connecting and disconnecting. Not sure why they keep peddling this garbage.

Just want to say, there are likely some (dangerous) QA issues here. Mine had the disconnection issue for weeks. Ignored them, as it still kind of worked.

Last night at ~11pm, it died a spectacular death. Loud pop, sparked, and now has a terrible burnt plastic smell. Completely dead and won't be touching it again. Thank goodness I was awake; had it right next to my bed.

Contacted Monoprice, and even 6 months post-purchase (Dec 2022 purchase → May 2023 electrical explosion), they gave full store credit and interestingly, did not want the burnt one back.

Not a safe deal, my dudes. We aren't the only ones. Someone on Monoprice wrote almost the exact thing in a review and a third person had this experience in the other thread:

Could've burned down the house!!!
Not only did this die within 6 months, it went out with a loud pop and started emitting tons of smoke! Burned to the touch when I ran to unplug it from the outlet. I hate to think what could've happened had I not been home at the time.

This thing started sparking on me. I unplugged it from my wall and it smells like burning.
I'm sure it's probably still working fine for most people, but I would seriously re-consider its safety record. For 3x people to discover sparking / popping problems in a relatively low-volume USB-C charger is a red flag.

To confirm, this is the square 100W one (PN43556 at the top left). It is ETL Intertek certified, so it really shouldn't be sparking except for poor QA or a latent defect that takes some months to appear.
