Nope, nothing I found was able to get this working. Unfortunate because I only bought this for a travel device. It's funny now how rarely we use computers here at home after working all day on one and having phones available.

Hopefully this gets figured out though. For me, it was really the main reason (besides the price) I wanted it for.
This post has thousands of comments on it, I'm really surprised with this price point and eMMC storage size that we are the only people seeming to struggle with this and coming back to the place where we found the device. Surely others are using it for offline media streaming and would need the SD card? Anyway, if you find a solution hit me up!

Will do. I have seen a few questions here about it, but I haven't seen anyone respond and say they got it to work. I would have assumed this would be something others would care about/use, but maybe we are the minority.

For reference I did try three different cards and two of these chromebooks, none would work. (Sent the first chromebook back due to a stuck pixel and ordered another) Figured I was doing something wrong on the first one, but it doesn't appear so.

I'm having similar issue, but for downloading Amazon prime video downloads. Won't save to SD card. Says "Error". Changed all settings and permissions to allow external storage read and write access. So it definitely recognizes it, but won't save.

Might need to try on a different computer and then plug the card in? Going to try some video files with vlc and get back to the thread later

Using SD card on ChromeOS (including local video files) works fine. Trouble is getting Android apps to recognize and use the SD card for storage.

Is that an Android app? I'm trying to narrow down if it is the streaming apps that are causing issues or if it cannot recognize the card in Android period.

My last Chromebook was a Dell Chromebook i3 with 8gb ram and this does not feel particularly slower. After using it for a few days surprised to hear that people find this too slow.

I thought it was odd that they'd imply price mistake then put more coming on the listing, put others on hold, and then change part number and leave out the fingerprint. I was wondering if it was legimately a price mistake like others were insinuating and they changed their mind and saw it as a money making opportunity, it was just odd.

Received mine, the second part number (no fingerprint), its 100% refurbished,

It's ok for webpages that are more static. I notice that interactive pages make this CB draw like a little kid.

I work in IT, have handled 100's or refurbished laptops, they use something to clean them and get them spot free that leaves a film on the laptop or does something to the material. It was dead giveaway the moment i touched. Not to mention the ports are worn and one is straight up dented. It hard freezes every hour or so. Im assuming it was sent in and they played around with it briefly and thought it had no problems. It also shows on the invoice that it was sent from their outlet.

Dont think you can really prove that once opened. Already contacted them, lady seemed pretty well versed in it not being in stock. Seeing some others comments on here, I'm genuinely wondering if this was intentional and would not be surprised if these are restocked shortly after our return period ends. I think the first sale might have been a price mistake and then maybe they saw an opportunity to offload other inventory too. Just a guess.

But totally lame of them. I guess im one of the few left who actually values new and the piece of mind. Amazon, best buy, now manufacturers are doing it. I guess because I work in the industry and know from first hand experience that even if a company explicitly states that it should be recycled even for the most important of reasons, these "recyclers" will still just throw them up resale regardless of what they tell you. Small unlikely chance that applies here but still would like to get something new if i ordered it new and the freezing kind of makes it unusable regardless.

How could you tell it's refurbished? My laptop looked new out of the box, no scratches or any blemishes. The only thing I was not sure was the power cord which was not bundled up, and it was not in a plastic bag but that's a minor issue.

Edit: NVM, saw your post before this one.

You can check the power wash cycle. Or do you think they wiped that too. All my notebooks are perfectly new. Refurbished worker will not put effort into cleaning the screen so spotless.
