Those asking for 3" or 3.5" are using them for framing, and anyone who has done any code compliant framing knows that all the screws will eventually snap inside the wood as the structure experiences movement over time. These are for decking so 2.5" is more than long enough. I do understand that using screws to build "temporary" framing is practical and i do consider that resonable depending on how temporary. So many DIY tiny house builders use construction screws for wall framing, that's totally not ok. Half of the screws will have failed after a year. Especially if it was ever moved on a highway.
That's some deep decking
pocket holes rely on the head of the screw to apply pressure in the hole. Bugle/countersink screws will spread the wood and not be great at giving support in the thin amount of wood remaining in a pocket hole.

Are they good to securing squeaky subfloor to joists? I think subfloor is 15/32 osb panels.

Are these good to use for pocket holes? Or are Kreg pocket screws recommend?

You need to use specific pocket hole screws. Milescraft brand are cheaper and the same thing

They should do the trick, it would be best to use a quality adhesive between the joist and subfloor, then use screws to secure.

I have used this kind of screw but still rusted with winter salt applied to staircase. I have switched to stainless steel screws for the staircase. Cost more but should last forever ($50 per 5-lbs)

Screw might be easier for framing (for the average person) but they are not designed for it as you said - nails are ductile, ready for shear, and screws just break, that's why they aren't used in framing even in 2022, not to mention they're more expensive (duh they are harder to manufacture) and take more time to install.

The above said, I'd consider these one step above drywall screws, and the star drive is also an improvement especially if you ever think you'll need to remove them, or driving them might be tough (phillips is designed to cam out which will destroy the screw)

Picture shows the 10 lb bucket... misleading. Still, not a bad price for the 5lb box

There are still plenty of tasks that a 3 inch deck screw is good for. Putting down 1.5" treads or building railings for example.

SD staff posts Hillman deck screw deals every few weeks. Read past threads, as I'm not sure if it's these exact ones, but I remember people in one thread talking about how bad they were.

The Lowe's 1000 for $40 is a notably better deal. Strange thing is that 365 (same size as this deal) is $37 at Lowe's.

Living in FL, I've learned my lesson with outdoor screws -- Stainless only. They are costly, but they won't rust.

Not misleading at all. That 10 you see is the diameter, the "5 lb" is shown right above it.
