I have the half off deal, and I am honestly having a hard time justifying that. I haven't watched anything on HBO/MAX for a couple of months.

There are a lotta great shows on hbo max, despite the negativity of this thread

I don't care about movies, but here's some good tv, imo:

Most recently I loved Tokyo Vice (american journalist investigates yakuza crime drama), the latest season of Westworld, the Taika Watiti comedy Our Flag Means Death (very silly pirate show), The Flight Attendant (Kaley Cuoco comedy thriller), and Barry (dark comedy).

Looking forward to the new GoT show and (much later) the new Dune tv show
Completely agree with this. Even their movie selection is often times more inspiring than Netflix. Of all the streaming services, I watch HBO Max by far.

In addition to the ones you have listed, I highly recommend Barry, Hacks, Sort Of, Insecure, Succession, Industry, Gomorrah (an amazingly gritty realistic Italian mafia show). Not to mention the awesome shows they have that's worth a rewatch or two (Sopranos, The Wire, Entourage, Westworld, etc).

Crazy that we have to pay money for the privilege of watching ads.

HBO invented premium paid network with no commercials. So it's funny 40 years later they are adding ads.
To be fair, cable channels didn't have ads at all when HBO was started.

Shit always creeps in.

"Pay for this! There's no ads!"

"Okay, cool."

"We added some ads for you!"

I was going to sign up for a year earlier with the Amex offer, but figured I'll see what others think of the Dragon show first. Then I'll just buy a month when the season is over.

News broke that Warner Bros. had axed a planned and mostly completed "Batgirl" film that was scheduled to premiere on the service, as well as DC Comics' "Wonder Twins" and "Scoob!: Holiday Haunt," previously due this holiday season.
In addition to the canceled films, fans and reporters noticed Thursday that six HBO Max original movies had been removed from the platform, including "Moonshot," starring Cole Sprouse and Lana Condor and Seth Rogen's "An American Pickle." (The titles are still available to purchase from video on demand sites).
In the earnings call, Zaslav was firm that he does not believe in releasing films straight to streaming. "We have a different view on releasing direct to streaming films and we have taken steps to course correct the previous strategy," he said, referring to previous CEO Jason Kilar's plan to offer original movies on HBO Max.

Worth it just for Succession alone. IMO the best show HBO has put out since their original "golden age" shows (Sopranos, The Wire, Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, Entourage).

Discovery Plus is saying they no longer would do new movie releases to streaming anymore. Not only that the staff at HBO Max will be downsized. Sad times. But this is still a good deal!
