I have the half off deal, and I am honestly having a hard time justifying that. I haven't watched anything on HBO/MAX for a couple of months.

Don't you have to spend $99+ to get $25 using Amex card?
Isn't 104.99>99?

Why pay for any service you don't use. Cancel it. I watch a shit ton of shows on it so always looking for ways to reduce my costs. I wish this had come a few months ago when I bit for the $150 annual plan with $25 AMEX rebate.

For me yes. My current annual sub ends on September. Gonna cancel that and renew with this offer and the amex.
mine too, annoyingly 7 days after the Amex promo ends. new account here we come. but I'll wait a little longer still, do it a couple days before the Amex promo ends just to be safe.

People shouldn't pay for services with ads. It should be free with ads or free of ads. This is why people dump cable.

So they are only offering me 99.$ for the year.. but I did discover I have been payoff 2 accounts this entire time.. but the odd part is, my husband was just charged the $15… my 1 amount was $9 and the other $7 on 2 different cards.. so where did the $15 come in at??

Won't let you renew before your sub ends even if it's in cancelled status. Amex offer ends 9/15 for me and my sub ends 9/26. 🥴

If I didn't get this free as part of AT&T Gigabit, I'd pay this in a heartbeat. Much better than Netflix imho.

These streaming services are becoming the overpriced, ad-filled cable/satellite services that we all fled.

Estonian TV? Not sure there's a very big overlap between people shopping for HBO Max and people looking for some Estonian content....

Not if you sign up for with Ads.
So you'd rather pay 69.99 for ads than $79.99 without? Do the math before asking the obvious questions.

Hm, I wonder if I can cancel my current half price promo subscription and sign up for the 40% off yearly plan. My current promotion expires in September so it might be worth the risk. I guess I could just create a new account if it doesn't work.

Just noticed the promotion last through October so I'll just need to remember to cancel my subscription after my current promotion ends. Hopefully Discovery doesn't completely hose HBO Max in less than a year.
I'm in the same boat as you, I spent 15 minutes on the phone with HBO customer service the other day because I wanted to re-up for a year to take advantage of the AMEX offer. They said there is no way to renew until my current subscription expires. So the only way to do it is to sign up with a new email. Stupid.

Just cancelled my monthly subscription. I have Amex offer on my card too. I will sign up at the end of the month, if I remember it. I haven't been using it much. I watched everything already that I found interesting.

Do they show ads on movies too? I've noticed some services just show them on tv shows
