I have the half off deal, and I am honestly having a hard time justifying that. I haven't watched anything on HBO/MAX for a couple of months.

I'm paying month to month…. Do I need to cancel in order to get then annual offer? It doesn't show up when I log in and check "switch plans". And if I cancel do I lose all my users and their lists?

To be fair, cable channels didn't have ads at all when HBO was started.

Shit always creeps in.

"Pay for this! There's no ads!"

"Okay, cool."

"We added some ads for you!"

"..."
They most certainly did. Not for consumer stuff but they advertised all their channels/plans and sister stations (once there was more than one channel they introduced plans that didn't include all of them without usually bundling in Cinemax as well.).

Anyone around back then remembers how a show would end at 1/4 till and the next 20 minutes would be packed with crap until usually 5 mins past the hour when the scheduled show would finally actually start...after their super long intro reel flying through the HBO letters.

I've had it for about six months and quickly ran out of interesting shows to watch.

HBO Max is the one of the better streamers worth paying for

Lots of stuff being released movies and shows

Anyone saying they don't have content is a liar and probably likes subtitles tv shows
Weird burn. I'd imagine the complainers like horrible comic book crap and don't have the capacity to enjoy something that involves subtitles.

It's gonna merge with discovery plus next summer. Wonder how much that would be
Probably full of reality tv. A lot of shows are being cancelled and/or pulled from their platform.

HBO Max as we knew it is dead. No more simultaneous theater and movie releases. Lots of cancelled original content. The new CEO and Discovery merger are going to drive subscribers away. What once was a 5 star hotel will be turned into a trailer park.

Then cancel and sign up again later if you feel like it. That's the beauty of streaming services. There will be other promos in the future. I recently watched Winning Time, if you haven't seen that it's a solid watch IMO.

Before buying this be aware the new Discovery made CEO pretty much canceled all the new DC shows and a bunch of movies including movies nearly complete for tax write offs.

The "year" of content is pretty much what it currently has while everything gets slowly dropped off, don't expect new stuff.
This is not true, there is a lot of misunderstanding floating around recently from the earnings call.
Quotes from the call:
"We are spending as much as never before, and we intend to keep growing that spend for HBO content, to be clear."

"we are going to spend significantly more on the HBO Max product, in other areas, we will spend less because we are not finding an effective return. In the aggregate, we are going to spend more money on content. We are a content company. That's our product. "

So what's the process to get if you are a current subscriber? Mine is up on Sept 1st and it shows it'll renew at $149. Do I have to cancel and resub? New account with a different email?
