I have the half off deal, and I am honestly having a hard time justifying that. I haven't watched anything on HBO/MAX for a couple of months.

Does anyone have issue with using AMEX card to make the payment? I got sorry couldn't add this payment method every time I tried to use my AMEX card. Called HBO max couple times, they didn't know what happened either...

I'm in the same boat as you, I spent 15 minutes on the phone with HBO customer service the other day because I wanted to re-up for a year to take advantage of the AMEX offer. They said there is no way to renew until my current subscription expires. So the only way to do it is to sign up with a new email. Stupid.
What happens if you cancel your current yearly subscription?

Nothing, except it won't renew. Your sub will still continue until the last day. I spoke with customer service about getting a pro-rated refund, they said they would but then they never got back to me.

Spectrum added HBO Max for $9.99 a month premium w/ no ads. Well I see paying in full $104.99 is cheaper monthly :-/

FYI it shouldn't have ads regardless, HBO ain't no damn HULU lol

For anyone wondering, if you cancel your auto-renew and wait for it to expire, it will give you the 40% off deal.

To confirm, you actually did this yourself?

Yes. I got the first year discount deal last September and it was set to auto-renew yesterday. I canceled it on Saturday, waited until about 4pm EDT yesterday when the message in my account changed from something like "I changed my mind" to "Renew" and followed the prompts. It said save 40% with the annual plans, so I did the ad-free plan for $104.99 and used my AMEX to get another $25 off, which was confirmed via email by AMEX this morning.

Hm, I wonder if I can cancel my current half price promo subscription and sign up for the 40% off yearly plan. My current promotion expires in September so it might be worth the risk. I guess I could just create a new account if it doesn't work.

Just noticed the promotion last through October so I'll just need to remember to cancel my subscription after my current promotion ends. Hopefully Discovery doesn't completely hose HBO Max in less than a year.
I contacted their support and this is exactly what they told me to do. Cancel current, wait until it expires where we will receive an email, then sign up with promo again.

If you have HBO Max With Ads, you'll see ads before and during select series and movies. You can expect to see about 4 minutes of ads per hour. Click here to learn more about ads on HBO Max.

No...No...No...

Not as bad at TNT or TBS here a 1.5 hour movie takes 3 hours to watch.........but no ads during a movie. Sports is ok to piss or get your pizza...but not a movie.

It ended MUCH WORSE than lost. On IMDb the final episode has a 4/10 with 250k ratings. It deserves that rating (if not worse). The two episodes before it have a 5.5 and a 6.0. https://www.ratingraph.com/tv-sho...ngs-26649/

Lost ended with an 82% of Rotten Tomatoes and somehow a 9.0 on IMDb but with only 1k reviews (probably before IMDb introduced show ratings).
