Buyer beware, it's Zavvi. Better hope there are no hiccups with your order, otherwise you will be on a never-ending journey with their customer "service". Best to pay with PayPal for the buyer protection.

Ordered from Zavvi before. No issues on 2-3 orders, though I've never had to use their customer service.

Good deal!

Never bought a LEGO set. My daughter wants to collect the Potter line and get some older retired sets.

Will these things hold their value well? I mean I do not expect her to pay for college with an investment but do you see these things losing value over the next 10+ years?

If you keep it in box, it will absolutely hold its value. Especially after they retire. If you decide to build it, you are still fine - better if you have all the pieces - even better if you keep the instruction manual (and box) - even, even better if you don't use the stickers which to my understanding this set has a lot of them.

Somewhere out there is an article explaining that right now Lego is worth more than gold in terms of value.

I've purchased from Zavvi once (Back To The Future set). Came pretty quickly, but the box was kind of banged up. I'm not a box purist, so it didn't bother me, but it may bother a collector.

Just FYI, this is the same sale price as last fall ($350), but Lego has upped the retail price from $399 to $469, so while it seems like a better deal, it is really just the same.

Still good price though. 👍

If you open the box, you lose the value. Otherwise it should hold the value and even better if retire. But I think your daughter wants to build it rather than keeping it in the box for next few years and loses interest

If things stay like they are now (and have been), which I am assuming they will, it will increase in value even used. My oldest kid has been Lego obsessed since he was about 4 and he's almost 12 now. There are sets that I wish I had purchased in this time period, and now they are way too expensive. Their value is a lot higher when not opened (obviously) but they still have a high resale value when they are used. My biggest advice is keep them bagged up and together. My kids have a ton of sets but they mixed them all together. We have a plan to sort them back into their sets, which will be horrible implementing, haha. In the last year, we have bagged all new sets. I really debated about saving boxes, because it increases the value of resale, but storing them would be hard/annoying so we decided against that. A lot of people save the box. This set has a big box! I would definitely save the instructions. I'm not a reseller but we do have a huge Lego investment in my family. LMAO There are many sites about Lego and their value. This is a set I really wanted and waited too long... https://brickset.com/sets/10236-1/Ewok-Village They go up in value when they retire or when you can't find them anymore. I bought the Stranger Things set new earlier this year for $172. Currently, it's selling for about $450+ new on eBay! (It recently retired)

For comparison, used Stranger Things is currently selling for about $350.

I think it must be hit and miss ordering from Zavvi. I ordered the ECTO-1 from a SD this year and it arrived in good shape in a timely manner. I'm not picky about the box condition but I've had issues with Amazon and Target, getting boxes that are really damaged. Walmart has been the best for me (and the Lego store).
