I don't know who would want to detect with a large battery attached to the control box. Too much weight.

Just as an FYI, look for a metal detector with Ground Balance adjustment. Some have auto balancing, but being able to make manual adjustments to suit your needs is better. Also..... don't bother, metal detecting is a rabbit hole that can quickly turn into a multi thousand dollar hobby. After all is said and done, just like REAL gold prospecting..... 99.999999999999999% of people are going to find nothing but junk. Those that do find anything of significant value, or even just value, are the Kobe Bryants of the metal detecting world. Get into metal detecting because you find it relaxing to swing this thing back and forth then dig. Treat it like meditation, then you'll get exactly what your looking for, meditation.
