It's not hard for me. A rental is $4 so $5 for the ability to play the movie whenever I want until apple and vudu goes out of business is a great deal.

True we don't own digital movie purchases. But it's also true for all digital purchases. Steam games, Audible books, Itunes music, etc. The only way to avoid that is to not buy anything which is not physical.

So when you buy a Bluray for a price and then 4k Blue ray came out, did you expect them to give you the 4k for free? Same with DVD to Blueray? Same with cassette to CD?
And your answer to all of this is to do something illegal?

Good list but hard to pay 5 for a movie you never own. Many are starting to feel the same streaming services has so much. Plus 4k uhd hdr and atmos best on disc by far if you into quality. Streaming it is compressed to hell and way lower audio. I sometimes grab oldies through but i shouldnt... I miss fanflix crazy sales i bet we get that more on all digital soon cause people having not enough money. Companies had there day now hope they go bankrupt for screwing us so long on bs prices on stuff ee dont even own.

Apple, Vudu, Amazon, and Microsoft.. seems pretty safe to me.

Speaking of Amazon, they are price matching. Don't forget those digital credits!

I used to disagree but after buying so many in HD because UHD wasn't available then it becomes available for the same price you already paid but they don't just give it to you they make you buy it again. Even if it's on sale for $5, I don't want to pay $5 to upgrade to 4K when if I waited I could have just got it for $5. I'll go back to vudu when they begin upgrading for free like google did and apple I think still does..

I love seeing people defending these giant companies 🤣

$5 for a digital 4k movie used to sound like a great deal, but not anymore. More and more 4k blurays are reaching $8 or less, and that's a better overall deal

Saw Heat in the theatee when it came out in 1994 (I was 13) and just saw it during Tribeca Film Festival - such a deep movie with complex characters that offer so much to explore - highly recommend Michael Mann's Heat 2 which just came out in hardcover!

Blockbuster, Sears, and Kmart were all "pretty safe" at one time. It depends on how long out you are talking about.

While, of course, nothing is guaranteed, the difference here is that it is highly unlikely digital delivery of content like this will go away for a very long time. Additionally, when digital delivery companies go out of business, they are typically bought by another company, which then transfers libraries to their service. Can you COUNT on this 100%? no. But, at the same time, it's a stretch to say that Vudu, Apple, Amazon or Google will go out of business and you'll lose access to your entire digital library without there being some other company that wants your money and therefore offers you what you bought on the previous service.

Heat looks bad. It's way too dim.
