It's not hard for me. A rental is $4 so $5 for the ability to play the movie whenever I want until apple and vudu goes out of business is a great deal.
True we don't own digital movie purchases. But it's also true for all digital purchases. Steam games, Audible books, Itunes music, etc. The only way to avoid that is to not buy anything which is not physical.
So when you buy a Bluray for a price and then 4k Blue ray came out, did you expect them to give you the 4k for free? Same with DVD to Blueray? Same with cassette to CD?
And your answer to all of this is to do something illegal?
This guy needs to be banned.

While, of course, nothing is guaranteed, the difference here is that it is highly unlikely digital delivery of content like this will go away for a very long time. Additionally, when digital delivery companies go out of business, they are typically bought by another company, which then transfers libraries to their service. Can you COUNT on this 100%? no. But, at the same time, it's a stretch to say that Vudu, Apple, Amazon or Google will go out of business and you'll lose access to your entire digital library without there being some other company that wants your money and therefore offers you what you bought on the previous service.
I don't disagree. My digital movies from Target transferred when they exited that business line. Plus, you never know when your VHS/Betamax/DVD/Blu-ray/etc... will become obsolete, wear out, get damaged or otherwise become unfit for purpose.

I still have a bunch of VHS tapes and a VCP/TV combo that works. Sometimes when kids are coming over I set it up so they can enjoy the 13 inch screen.

Underwater comes up $14.99; I don't know why because it is listed on the $4.99 deals page.

And there's a better chance that we will go out of business before Apple VUDU or Amazon.

I can't get myself to buy digital codes for movies. I know there is almost no chance one of these companies goes under but if you get your account hacked or banned for whatever reason you also lose all your stuff.

I've been buying 4k's on sale, selling the Blu-Rays on ebay or Reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/MediaSwap) for a couple bucks, selling the digital code on Reddit for $4 - $6 (https://www.reddit.com/r/DigitalCodeSELL), and be left with a beautiful 4K that now cost me less then $10. I rip that to my NAS, play the movie from anywhere, and put the 4K disc that I will always own in the basement for safe keeping.

Thats cool. I have a NAS myself but that's some pretty pricey hardware compared to the average person that probably only has a dvd, blu ray player or a streaming stick.

VUDU: 4K UHD movies on sale this week for $4.99.

https://www.vudu.com/content/movi...?offset=16
Why are about half of these movies listed on this "sale" page not actually on sale? Only those with the "SALE" banner across the top appear to be listed at the advertised $4.99 price.

So did they not switch movies over this week on the $4.99 deals? I swear these are all the same as last weeks. 🤔

Do you own some of them? Those tend to rid the banner on mine.

There are a lot of early Blu-ray's that suffer from "disc rot", a phenomenon I was unaware of until one day I pulled out my OG Superman Blu-ray(from the early days of the format) and it just wouldn't play. Tried to contact WB about a replacement years ago but never heard back.

Saw Heat in the theatee when it came out in 1994 (I was 13) and just saw it during Tribeca Film Festival - such a deep movie with complex characters that offer so much to explore - highly recommend Michael Mann's Heat 2 which just came out in hardcover!
Hey, I was also 13 in 1994!! *high five*

I used to disagree but after buying so many in HD because UHD wasn't available then it becomes available for the same price you already paid but they don't just give it to you they make you buy it again. Even if it's on sale for $5, I don't want to pay $5 to upgrade to 4K when if I waited I could have just got it for $5. I'll go back to vudu when they begin upgrading for free like google did and apple I think still does.. I'll go back to pierating whatever I can't watch on Hulu, HBO or Netflix (I usually go back and forth every month depending on what I want to watch. I stopped paying for 3-6 services at the same time while maybe only using one) clearly some people are hurt by you not wanting to throw your hard earned money at these huge corporations. I love seeing people defending these giant companies
This Slickdeals. I thought everyone was using Vudu Credits. Fandango/ Vudu have had great promos all year, where if you Buy Select groceries, they give you a credit good towards Vudu or Fandango..

I spent $3 for Cheerios and got $13 worth of Vudu. Spent $1.50 on Twizzlers and got $5 Vudu. So for just $15 Out of pocket, I got $42 in Vudu plus the groceries.

I like it because I can buy Top Gun: Maverick as a New Release with zero guilt.
