Becuase sometimes 1+1 does not equal 2

Just kidding, 4. 8 oil changes 😉

It's simple math, really. If you can't understand how the two are equal, you have no business changing your own oil.

Could dinosaurs become oil under the right conditions? My guess would be probably - but the deposits that oil is retrieved from predate dinosaurs and exist in relatively unique sets of conditions so it's unlikely that dinosaurs, even if present in the same timeframe as the formation of oil, would have contributed to it.
More likely most "dino oil" came from organic matter like grasses and swampland over hundreds of millions of years not actual animals which got decayed by bacteria, insects, etc. The total mass of organic plant life far exceeds animals.

70% of oil deposits existing today were formed in the Mesozoic age (252 to 66 million years ago). That's slightly before, during, and after the existence of dinosaurs. To exclude them entirely from crude oil formation isn't a concept that holds a lot of water. Do I think that they were a majority contributor to oil formation? Absolutely not. That was done by microorganisms. But to say that no dinosaur carcass ever contributed to crude oil production is a fallacy.

I'm not a paleontologist but we're talking generalizations here and the consensus is "no". Can anyone prove that not a single dinosaur turned into oil? Obviously not - but that's not the point. Go ahead and google it as I am doing - I could literally spend the rest of the day linking articles that say "No, oil doesn't come from dinosaurs."

This site goes into detail how we use the term "fossil fuels" and again, how oil is not dinosaurs.

https://www.powells.com/post/orig...-dinosaurs

The bad wiring goes something like this: Oil is fossil fuel, and most of it comes from the age of the dinosaurs. Fossils equals dinosaurs, therefore dinosaurs equals oil. But if fossil fuel does not come from dinosaurs, then where does it come from? Plankton.

Fossils fuels are just that — combustibles of ancient biological origin, preserved in rock. But they're not made of dinosaurs. There were never enough dinosaurs in the world to generate the Earth's great stores of oil. And dinosaurs lived in the wrong environment. They were all terrestrial creatures. Oil comes from decaying marine organisms.

I've been running synthetic for many years, but I still do oil changes every 3,000 miles more or less. I also subscribe to the cheap insurance theory, and my last several vehicles ran like new with 150K-200K miles on them when sold, with no internal engine work done to them ever, only regular maintenance items like air filters, belts and idler/tensioner bearings, and spark plugs. Of course I do the oil rebates, so it really doesn't cost much to follow that schedule. And I live in a very hot, dry, and dusty area. At 3K miles my oil looks like it needs changing, so out it goes. If at some point I keep a vehicle to 300K miles or more, I'm confident that my maintenance schedule will allow for that kind of engine longevity. An oil change takes like 20 minutes 4 or 5 times a year; it's time well spent and an excuse to do an undercarriage inspection and hit some lube points with the grease gun.
Like said, you aren't hurting anything, but my guess is if you changed on the prescribed schedule from the maintenance minder in the car (probably double the mileage you are talking) your last several vehicles still would have run like new with 150K-200K miles on them.....but of course no way to go test that without a time machine

First time. But I asked my military friends and they said the site is legit.

My oil life monitor generally has 30-40% remaining life when I change oil and filter. And you're probably right about the factory schedule being just fine for a long life. But with vehicle costs being what they are nowadays, I'd rather err on the side of caution. Just my personal preference. I'm sure that Walmart loves selling all the used oil I bring them. And anyone who goes 5K or even 8K between changes is doing their own thing and saving some money too. I most certainly don't have all the answers, but I try to make sure that I'm asking the right questions.

Good deal (1.91/qt), but not quite as good as the Pennzoil one (1.24/qt) I jumped on from a few days ago (sale price at Amazon on oil, combined with $25 Pennzoil rebate, for 10 qts...lowest I've ever paid for full syn).

Downside, 1-2 month lead time, but...works for me as I've still got what I need for the two changes I need to do now.

Oil prices have started to rise so it may be a while again. The last best deal was Valvoline's Extended Protection at $22 a jug and then the $5 rebate made them only $17 a jug. Next step up from that is M1 EP at $24-28/jug.

I'm well aware of what the deal is on THIS oil. I don't generally buy products I have no clue about so it's of no use to me.

Also, you linked to the conventional, not synblend.
