Our shop uses these type of ecoboxes. We're pretty heavy handed with them and they've never leaked. Some of them stay opened on the shelf for up to a year without issue.
I had not heard of this brand, so I looked at the Petroleum Quality Institute of America site. The additive packages look good for this oil:

Decent amounts of moly, boron and zinc.
Is motor oil legal in CA?

I change my old three to four times a year. This is definitely tempting. Be aware that they say oil expires in a year. So i wouldn't leave this on the shelf too long. Unless the change the oil once a year thing is a lie.

Great deal and cheapest brand synthetic I have ever seen.

But, I feel to stick with Costco, don't want to deal with the hassle.

Wonder how this stuff does in 540rat's testing?

I see lots of new brand names in his ranks these days. SP is looking legit, just like SN proved to be over SM. #progress

For a modern synthetic that's very frequent and likely unnecessary oil changes. You should sample at your next change and send off for eval. I bet you are wasting a bunch of your time and money
Not saying that's not a fair point, but they're spending $8 (Syn Blend) every 6000 miles for peace of mind…

and I'd say, for an Uber driver, that's worth it. $8 is at most like 1/2 an Uber ride.

One year when the oil is in the car. Shelf life is way more than a year.

Ordered since August 21. Still haven't received the pick up email. There is no way to check the order status unless you registered. Any clues?

motor oil is usually 5quart (1.25 gal).

6 gal = 4.8gal
$46/4.8 = $9.58/5quart jug

GREAT price and without rebate.
too bad i already bought 2 jugs from Penzoil (waiting for rebate...)
I think you meant 6 gal = 4.8 5qt jugs.

Like you said, at the risk of a debate. I just take the word of the team of engineers who built, designed, and tested my engine. They're a lot more educated, and paid a lot more than likely anyone else here. me especially
Regardless of your standing on the matter you shouldn't throw out an appeal to authority fallacy as proof without looking at the goals of that authority. CAFE standards and fuel economy is a VERY critical factor in the suggestions. Considerations are not the engine division making the absolute best suggestion for the engine bearings and life independently as a standalone product. It is the overall vehicles longevity and fuel economy numbers that had to be met in the actual car with that engine. Fuel economy and efficiency of the engine is a MAJOR design goal, not an afterthought. Everything about a car and it's components is a potential compromise to reach CAFE.

A lot of engines used in multiple model years had different recommendations for thinner oils in later production years. Same engine. At the same time, specs were backdated suggesting thinner oils in the older engines. So which weight suggested of the two is best and which one is good enough?

That being said, it is impossible to do repeatable long terms tests in each car with each engine under the same conditions to see if using oil brand X of weight Y compared to something else actually made a difference in that specific engines life under those specific conditions. Even if you could and did, that does not translate at all over to a different engine with different conditions so... We rely on what my mechanic said, my brothers friends engine did this, I have this many miles, and this one guy took an engine apart and said that and so on.

I only use gluten free oil in from BPA free containers in my engines.

Have you tried the "Chat with an Agent" feature on the Grainger web site?
It appears that the oil is shipping from DuraMAX to the local Grainger location.

Yep, that's my understanding.

I don't think Grainger stocks this. It is shipped from the vendor to Grainger. And the way shipping/logistics is these days, it might take a while.
