Little do people know this is the best gaming monitor on slickdeals the rest are pretty low end monitors. $1099 for this 38 inch monitor is a good deal. Doubt it drops lower than this price, this monitor blows any of the Samsung ultrawide monitors out of the water including the G9

4k does not make a monitor "better". Two totally different products. This falls under the ultra wide category and in a LOT of games that support ultra wide resolutions, the immersion is light years better on an ultra wide. This is a niche product and it doesn't sound like it's for you.

Each pixel in an OLED panel is an individual light bulb. To make a smaller monitor at the same 4K resolution, the OLEDs have to be smaller. They probably cost more to produce smaller OLEDs and then there are other issues with using OLEDs as a monitor (dead pixels, burn-ins, brightness, etc.)

48" at 4K is about 92 PPI. The same as 24" at 1080p or 32" at 1440p
43" at 4K is about 104 PPI. The same as 27" at 1440p.

I'm not sure why they couldn't do a 1440p oled monitor now. I would be intrested but some people might complain about the pixel density.

just curious for this price and spec is not bad but why LG won't do a OLED panel gaming monitor?

they can easily crush the market with the OLED tech are they not good for gaming? since lot of CX series has good review for gamer

I'm going to guess that burn-in as a monitor is an issue. However, there are OLED monitors.

Please elaborate?

To me, this monitor seems extremely pricey. That said, the Samsung G9's have VA panels, but it's aspect ratio is insane. Going from a 34" Ultrawide to a 38" almost double the price so to me, this monitor does not seem like even close to good value. Maybe I'm missing something.

You are 100% correct a small OLED would crush the market if they could produce and sell one at an affordable price. They have released a 32in 4k OLED but for $4k it is likely to test the market to see if there is any demand. My guess is a cheaper 27 inch 4k OLED will be getting released in another year or so for about $2k-$3k. The problem is these smaller panels are more expensive to produce, until they can give us a sub $2k OLED panel at 4k it's going to be out of the question to the masses. We are close but yet so far from the end game panel.

This 38gn950 has LGs flagship nano IPS panel in it and at 1600 vs 1440 resolution so the aspect ratio is better for most things. This monitor has a better vertical resolution, is faster than a VA panel like the G9 and doesn't have scan line issues and smearing, plus the build quality is better than anything g from Samsung. This monitor is worth the price at $1099 and is actually a phenomenal deal seeing as it retails for around $1600 everywhere

That's counter-intuitive. Why does a smaller OLED monitor cost more than a large one?

I know that they sell larger panels due to the TV, so there may be some mass manufacturing benefits ther. However, if they scale up the smaller OLED monitors I don't see why prices can't drop fast there too.

You are completely right. I forgot about that. At the same time though, there are some very high PPI OLED screens for mobile devices. I think the market for those sized screens as OLED may not be developed yet.

Great monitor and I can say that as I am using one right now.

Only negative I could give it is the black level is ok and not as good as a VA or OLED but we know this before buying.
