Is it worth $100 more than the regular Cloud wired sibling?

These sound pretty poopy in stock form, and unfortunately the EQ settings in their windows app don't save to the headphone, so you can't use the EQ on a PS4/PS5. You'll be stuck with the poopy.

Also, they aren't Xbox compatible at all due to licensing, and they don't work wired.

Bought these a recently from the Best Buy sale. The mic on these are very muted. When I recorded with these and a wired HyperX headset, the recording from these was barely audible. The wired headset was fine. I will be returning my HyperX Cloud Alpha wireless headset.

My wired Cloud Alpha headset also has a extremely low volume mic until I go into (Windows 11) Sound Settings > Input (section) > External Microphone > Enhanced Audio (section) > Advanced (link)... a dialog box will pop up, go to the Levels tab and change the Microphone Boost setting then change it back (I keep mine at 20 db boost). For some reason I have to 'touch' this setting to get the mic at a nice level.

This is one of the worst headsets I've ever owned. Look into the latency issues if you want further proof. If you use Ngenuity and the recommended drivers, it introduces 0.5-1s latency on all sound. If you bypass those and use windows drivers there's no latency, but the sound is so muddy because you can't use EQ, DTS, etc. The headset also has massive issues with clicking, crackling, pops, etc.

HyperX has known about all of these since launch and they have done absolutely nothing to fix them. There are a lot of experts saying they can't fix it because of the low battery drain components they used in the headset (keep in mind the headset just has a 1400mAh battery so it's nothing special). If they tried to fix the problems, they'd kill the battery life and wouldn't be able to justify asking $200 retail for a headset that lacks nearly every feature present in $130+ headsets.

Thanks for the info - this absolutely needs to be at the TOP of this thread. I got sucked into all the quality reviews for this headset; why in the hell was the latency never mentioned? That is a HUGE dealbreaker for gaming. I can't be hearing things like gunshots or footsteps a second after they happen, let alone play anything rhythm-based. As soon as I looked this up, I went down a rabbit hole of reddit threads and Hyper-X support just keeps providing empty feedback saying they're aware and fixing it, but they don't actually seem to have a clue.

This is truly disappointing because I was stoked to have a headset that finally lasted more than a day on wireless charge, and had good bass. I have the worst luck with gaming headsets for years, and can never find the 'holy grail' (I just want something with amazing sound and bass, surround sound, etc. that isn't garbage). Add HyperX to the Fail list... trying to refund my Amazon order, hopefully it doesn't ship out. What a letdown.

Have you tried the Astro a50? Pretty pleased with mine (using it for TV atm) but it doesn't have Bluetooth and I'm no audiophile. After tossing my third headset in 2 years I decided to just pay more and be done with it. So far so good
