I wouldn't say it's an abomination but it's definitely not perfect.

So from the last time x13 was posted the advantages is great battery life and the ability to add a SIM (this model doesn't have that feature). Performance is on par with 11 gen i5

The negative is that most windows software isn't built for ARM so much of the software out there doesn't work on it yet (though there is a 32bit x86 to ARM emulation layer in windows). Also some concern that next year there may be an iteration of this device where the performance is more similar to M2 given Qualcomm's acquisition of Nuvia.

So for me, what held me back from pulling the trigger was that I felt I would be paying full price for a beta product.

This gen was just release a month ago and dropping like a rock already. If this can run Linux,I'd jump in at this price.

Edit. no linux

It's definitely a beta stage product. However, it is an indication that the industry is laying the groundwork for an eventual shift to non-x86 processors, which have become bloated and inefficient. This will not happen anytime soon but over the last 5-10 years, M1 (and now M2) and more generally the low-power but super efficient RISC-based processors used in handheld devices has shown the PC industry that it would be foolish to not prepare for the day when performance gains from x86 processors are no longer available (which we've already been seeing with Intel chips over the last few years).

They now have 64-bit x86 emulation as well.

Only a Linux user would buy this yet no Linux. It will be 2024 before this device is well enough supported while better offers will be available by then. Please
