If you live near a harbor fright these sell for $15 normally. I wait for them to go on sale or use a 20% coupon. I've got a few of them and they have held up well. The only difference is a black coating on the hooks vs the green.

All product pictures are photoshop. Not real one. Why not putting the real photo for product usage.

My garage came with one of those sideways-hanging hook racks.

There's a reason why the previous owner left it attached. It pretty much sucks.

Was going to say this pretty much. Just picked one up last week and have yet to put it up, but it's nice to know for anyone that isn't sure about picking this up.

Cost. Effort.

There are plenty of real world product photos in the reviews.

Yep if you have HF near you just get one of theirs. I started using them for everything, kids packpacks, random shopping bags, helmets etc. And with the benefit of being all black they don't stand out when the garage door is open, unlike these neon ones that just draw attention to them selfs.

If I were to hang a shovel, would the bottom part of the shovel press into the wall or would the shovel hang straight down not making contact with the wall?

Been contemplating this style tool holder for the garage. Currently using nails in a 2x4, but the problem is that wide implements cannot be at staggered height. Hoping I can stagger heights with this to maximize the wall area.

Was also considering the longer hook style so that multiple tools could just be stacked in front of other tools.

I have a similar system I have had for years. Just move the handles/shaft of the tool further up or down the hook and it will hold it in place with gravity and force pushing it towards the wall. Remember to mount these in studs.

The portion of the shovel below the hanger will press against the wall. I have an old HF version and most shovels will store with pointy end up or pointy end down. Lower portion is always against the wall.

I found that studs weren't enough. Plastic between the studs would flex out, even with drywall anchors. Mounted a 1x3 to the studs and the rack to the 1x3.
