If you don't have the App installed, download it here.

All Battle.net accounts that do not currently have the Shadowlands expansion attached and that had any expansion license attached to the account in the past will receive the Shadowlands Base Edition and a Level 50 Character Boost FREE (no purchase necessary).

Every time I see a post like this I have these strong fits of nostalgia. I had some great times in my life playing that game between 2005-2014. However, there were also great reasons why I left and I can't seriously imagine going back.

Still, one thing I will say is even around 2006 I was saying that this was a game that people would still be playing in 20 years. Nobody believed me then but I was correct.

It really is a great game.

Mostly it cuz we were playing with friends. Nowadays i'd rather not having a secondary job after a regular work day.

What you don't feel like grinding for mats and making item level to raid. Then finding a group that will let you raid because you can't always be there at the same time 7 days a week. Wow is basically an unpaid PT job.

Basically what this boils down to is you get the current expansion (Shadowlands) sooner for free. When the next expansion (Dragonflight) prepatch hits in a few months, everyone will get this (Shadowlands) for free anyway.

This does include a free boost, which you don't normally get with the expansion prepatch, but there was a level 'squish' (max level went from 120 to 60), so your old characters probably don't have much leveling to do anyway.

This is probably an effort to bait people into buying into Dragonflight when it comes out. There are a lot of wow 'classic' or tbc players that already have a subscription that may be baited into trying it too.

Lol. I logged into Battle.net and found the two gifts despite never bought any DLCs and have not played Wow since I quit it in 2006.
Gladly added the freebies to my long list of backlog. Not sure if I would ever play it though...

I've read a few comments and agree. There was a time I enjoyed this second unpaid job. But one Saturday about 2014 I got on at 7am and in the midst of a raid I was feeling weird and tingly. It was 7pm, hadn't eaten and barely finished 20 oz water cup. I signed off and said I would never go back. I tried to go back in 2020, but it felt unwelcoming and confirmed my decision 6 years prior was correct.
