Also, this is the "old" model of the color recessed lights. The newer model (578450) is brighter (1100 lumen) and just released recently. FYI so that your other recessed lights match in brightness levels, etc.

Unfortunately seems the discount can only be used for 1 light

FYI This listing looks wrong. The part number is for the 4" not 5/6" I already bought and returned this last month due to the incorrect listing.

On a somewhat related topic - I just got a 4-pack delivered today from Costco just to see how I like them before committing to buy more for a basement project. I wanted to look up the specs to see how they compare to the OP's light and the Costco product link is broken and a search no longer comes up with the 4-pack. Does anyone know if the Costco ones are the "old" or "new" model? I don't really feel like opening up the packaging to check. If the 4 I got from Costco are being discontinued, then I'll just return these 4 since I need about 16 more and don't want mis-matched brightness with these lights.

I purchased 16 (4 x 4 packs) from Costco for a renovation and can confirm that I received the older model. Costco appears to be our of stock now, so you're probably better off getting 20 of the lights in this deal.

don't think so, I wish there was too as I feel like Phillips is missing a big market as its getting more popular, but maybe they run too hot or something. I did new remodel cans (with only LED connectors) to put these in my bedroom. 700 may seem low, but they seem plenty bright.

This isn't the right place to research this kind of question- plenty of information on other sites. Long story short- more stable, better quality.

Yes.. unfortunately. I did spend hundreds/thousand[s] of dollars already. But that's how it is, and for home projects the budgets are different, and there are no real good alternatives with similar quality characteristics. If you do these DYI, the labor saved kind of makes up for it.

You're paying for product reliability and the quality of the app. I've been using hue bulbs for probably 7 years at this point and I've never had a single bulb failure and I can't even think of a time that they've ever had connection issues or response concerns with the app. They just work.

Do these hue bulbs retain their settings if they get powered off? I plan on turning them on and off using regular light switches. I just want them for the color adjustments.

If I have a wired connection, not a socket, do I cut and strip the wires for the connection?

"Generation two of the White and Color Ambiance downlight now features an increased lumen output of up to 1100 lumens"

I believe the old model is 800 lumens.
