Ive seen them on sale for like $75 so no not a good deal. Rather just spend a little more and get these brand new.

I don't know about other thermostats, but this one has a built-in hygrometer, and can schedule periodic running of the fan, which are not typical.

Looks like a great buy, considering $99 most places, Walmart had it for $88 recently. Of course those are all new, but geek squad certified is pretty good, specially for the price. How is the warranty on geek squad certified refurb?

The refurbished products are 1 yr limited warranty from Google. Per Nest Support in the questions section.

Great price even though it's refurbished. Since I started working from home 100%, none of the "smart learning" features of the expensive model has value now. The only thing holding me back is the inability of this model to connect to Nest temp controls.

Also keep in mind if you live in California or New York (and maybe some other states) you can link your energy provider to an ohm connect account and get one for free sometimes when they are doing their promo

Edit: apparently this version can't use temp sensors. Sorry for any confusion I caused! /edit

I actually really like these. I have one for each zone in my house and they work great. It set my heat and adjusted it to my schedule and I could monitor temps in all rooms with the add on sensors. I just wish that I could use them on battery power to monitor temps without power too them from furnace. (Furnace switch is off and we heat with pellets now)

These are a huge downgrade from the nest 3rd gen, but pretty much everything has been since the google takeover.

The 3rd gen is required to use the room sensors. If you get the nest room sensors today, they will not work with this thermostat.

The screen is much more simple and not nearly as "wow" as the high res 3rd gen display.

The only thing this thermostat has going for it is Thread, which will (theoretically) allow OTHER room sensors (like Eve Room) to be the room sensor. So, here's hoping!
