I plugged it in, started the set up process, and at the screen where I was going to enter my MS password, it suddenly shut itself down. I pressed the power button repeatedly, but it didn't come on. Even though the power cord was connected, I thought may be it needed charging (the light was orange). I let it charge during my meetings.
Round two… the light was white indicating full charge, pressing the power button didn't do anything. I held it down for varying amounts of time, nothing… then -randomly- after one of the presses it started up again. Went through the same thing and it shut down itself at the same spot, and the power button is unresponsive again.
I've been longing for something new and fresh (getting little bored with the tiny incremental updates from Apple) both hardware and software (windows 11) wise…. Ugh! We're off to a great start!
Edit: Round 3, 4 and 5. It shuts itself off at random times during the first set up. I couldn't even got to Windows desktop yet.
Geez. This is supposed to be a $3K business model with better specs/quality.
Then, reinstalled Windows and during first setup didn't connect to internet (just wanted to get to Windows desktop) finally got to the desktop and was getting ready to connect to WiFi and boom… it shut itself off again.
Packed this POS and will return it when the replacement arrives (custom ordered the same model with better specs for $40 more) to avoid any confusion with Amex CB. Fingers crossed for the second one.
