For those worried about the RAM, it can be easily upgraded to a max of 64GB. It was the first thing I did and replaced the 2 x 8GB dimms with 2 x 32GB dimms.
Also, if you want to additional storage, you not only can easily replace the included SSD, but this system has a spare m.2 slot ready. I added a 2TB SSD to this bad boy myself.

All the ones I've owned have had great thermals, and are all still working to this day (I pass them down to kids, of which I have three).
The only issues I've had, and they may have sorted this by now (most recently I purchased an Aorus line laptop so It's been a few years since I bought one of this line), were power throttling and light bleeding around the edges of the edge lit displays. EVERY SINGLE ONE has had light bleeding in one or more spots right out of the box. So, if that super matters to you, you should probably expect it to either come that way, or develop it over time. If you are going to hook this up to an external monitor most of the time (like I do), it's prob a non-issue. It's only really noticeable when using the laptop display and viewing dark images / playing dark games.
Now, the power throttling I had on only one. It had a full power mobile 1070 in it. The other ones I had did not have that issues, but did not have 70 or higher line cards. They were 50ti, and 60s. I would notice with the 1070 one, over a long period of gaming, my fps would start to go down. At first I thought thermal throttling, but that wasn't the case. As it turned out, it was "by design". The power supply could not provide enough power to power the system at 100% performance AND charge the battery. So, over a long gaming session, the battery would slowly decline. Once it hit 50% remaining life, the system would power throttle the gpu/cpu, and charge the battery back up. It was an odd "design", and I almost feel they should've just given buyers the option to upgrade the PS, but I digress. I rarely gamed for that many hours in a row... my son ( who has it now) does... and sometimes it annoys him. I should also note, he and I only have/had that issue when playing very demanding games. If the game wasn't a new (or new at the time) AAA game, I never saw that issue pop up.
Anyway, hope that helps with your decision making. I think the predator line is a great line. You can often find them refurbished for a great price, and I've only ever had one refurb show up DOA (which they replaced promptly with another). The rest have ran great, and continue to do so. My oldest one is now nearly 7 years old (and my daughter, who has a desktop now, still uses it for mobile gaming with it's 1050ti which still handles the games she plays (mainly overwatch, fortnight, and sims 4) just fine.
