I was with them for 20+ years and finally left them in 2021 when they wouldn't offer anything reasonable. These prices are likely just in markets where consumers have choices. Thankfully, many can get home internet from Verizon or T-Mobile now and it is putting pressure on AT&T and cable companies.

Unclear how long these prices are good, but they are current at http://www.spectrum.com when you enter your address and ask for rates (provided you live in select market). I had switched to AT&T and had a great rate lock for 300 Mbps, but with no contract, pays to move for what might be 30-60% less. Rate should be good for existing Spectrum customers too, so call for PM! - Ok, maybe not, but worse case they say no.

Edit: Based on comments so far and Spectrum requirements to enter your exact address in order to see rates, it is possible you might only see listed rates if your address has had Spectrum/Charter service in the past. Actually saw this price via Facebook ad. So, unless FB shares exact address with advertisers, they wouldn't know I had service before. If Spectrum is the only option in your area, no reason for them to offer these rates. This is very address dependent.

No competition where I live, so no promos. However, I did threaten to leave a while back and was offered 49.99 300mb vs the 70 or so I was paying for 200mb.

What did you say to get that rate. I'm in SoCal and there is no competition other than the crappy DSL ... I'm paying $75 for 300mbit and never call to complain. They did have an outage recently during the day I was able to get a few bucks off for the downtime but generally I give retention enough grief.

My intention was to cancel and open a new account under a different name to get their standard promo rate. The first time I called, the person hung up on me after I asked to disconnect service. The second person I spoke to was more pleasant and offered 2yrs promo rate of $49.99 at 300mbs.

I believe it is because Spectrum charges in advance for service. It may explain why they TECHNICALLY may have owed what they didn't end up using, but in my opinion, it's a bad faith practice to charge customers for what they haven't yet received, which is contrary to how most service based merchants operate.

If you can get spectrum for a good rate and understand their billing practices, it can be a good value. That said, I'd make sure you're fully informed before starting service with them, or any ISP.

* I'm not sure about all areas, but my parents have had spectrum for years on the 100Mbit unlimited plan for around $40/month which seems fairly reasonable to me, and for their needs. I even tested that unlimited back in the days of phone farming...they did get the full 100Mbit, and one month I consumed nearly 4TB (over 4000GB) with no throttling or issues from the ISP, so they seem to honor the stated throughput and unlimited means unlimited.

This was just for the last month. We had been a customer with them for around 4 years.

I got 39.99 for 1 gig in socal and free modem for 2 years. My neighbor is paying 114 for the same. It's pretty messed up for existing customers.

Do they still charge an install fee for Gig service? I remember it was $200 at first and then dropped to $50.

Pretty sure it's native to the network at this point. Modem is just provisioned higher or lower.

They even added a 2.5G port to the latest "free" modems for the full 1000mbps. Previous 1GB revision only hits 940. (Assuming no local network congestion).

Here's the site for the FCC map and local "speed" in your neighborhood. NOTE: If there's a service listed there that isn't available, the ISP hasn't finished and or may eventually add services in the future. FWA (5G T-Mobile/Verizon) hasn't been listed either (it should imo).

For example: I have fiber and DSL listed by Centurylink, but they pulled their DSL services from my street awhile ago... Fiber implementation stopped at the end of the street. Hoping they actually implement it..

Just got off the phone with them, was paying $94.99 for 400mbps and ended up with 500mbps for $49.99 for a year.
