GOLF Deal !!! Thumbs up 👍🏻
If your new to golf grab the Callaway set and be done. If you have the money to splurge on a driver, Ping G425 is one of the most forgiving/longest drivers out there. Best deal on a driver right now is the PXG Gen5 for $299 with free shipping. All the modern drivers are within 10 yards as long as the specs are similar. Hitting the ball solidly matters the most and if it's a brand new driver that does it for you, go for it.

No one goes out to the golf course to hit 6 irons off the tee even if it may be the "smarter" thing to do. It's just not fun, crushing the ball once a round is what gets everyone coming back to the game not making par putts.
For someone just starting, I'd agree. The driver is a macho club, but for most people that are shooting 100 or over it hurts more than it helps. Assuming your 6 iron goes 160, on a 350 yard hold you should take a 6, 6, then wedge in. With 2 puts that gets you a 5, which will bring your score down to a 90 across 18.

Or you can take your driver, slice and go OB, then slice and be way out of position and be on in 6 with a 2-putt for 8.

I used to hit my 4 iron off the tee just to get used to hitting my 2nd shot off the fairway.

Anyway it depends on what you're trying to do: get better or have fun. Swinging away is definitely more fun!

Nobody should ever spend $400 on a driver. They are all pretty much the same, it's not going to make you hit it further or get rid of your slice. Get a used one for like $150-200 and you've got an extra 200+ to spend on actually golfing... That's like 10 twilight rounds.
I dont think this is true. Some people have the money to buy these drivers plus fitting which makes them drive the ball further and accurate.

It's the same price at GlobalGolf and it doesn't qualify for their promos. Only used available at 3balls, and still $350.

I see a 4% rebate through Capital One's portal (YMMV) for Carl's Golfland ($397 - 4% = $381.12) on the G425 Max Driver, a little cheaper than Dick's/Golf Galaxy, but Carl's doesn't appear to have the Accros grip if that's important to you.
