Definitely that was the past, IQ blending (timer with auto stop and start to prevent sticking issues) and the design of the unit, the gray circle at the top -- it's meant for ur hand to manually swirl the solid slurries back to the bottom so it can be blended further. Their cups can blend mushed ice level slurries no issue and no need for manual intervention.

Downsides? YES.
The blade has to screw onto the cups and when smoothie/foods slip into the grooves that screw onto the cups it is very very difficult to clean. I've found that despite drying it very thoroughly I have to use a brush or paper towel and get into those grooves otherwise you will notice the 'rotten garbage smell'.
Loud AF also, higher pitch than vitamix due to smaller motor I'm guessing similar loudness.

I have a very similar model blender by ninja that I think is 1100W. It was $80 on sale and that was the cheapest it had ever been. $50 is like a common sale price for the 900W models. This one for $50 seems like a steal to me. The blade piece alone is $25 plus shipping from ninja.

In my experience invrsion blenders are only good for very liquid based recipes. Stuff like pesto, syrups, BBQ sauces and the such do not blend well.

No clue if this is a good product, just saying keep this in mind for any inverted blender.

The version I have has a 24 ounce cup. If you're making smaller sized smoothies or batter, it's kinda of a messy hassle to scrape it out especially if the batter is thick. And if you're using the spout lid attachment a decent amount sticks to the underside of the lid.

That's been my experience until I bought this. I bought it at full price and would do it again. It specializes in sauces and bowls 😋 I make açaí bowls in this a couple of times a week and they are thick and even.

Wow. This price is crazy.
I just bought a personal blender model (BN401 - basically the same function without the tamper), and I wished I had bought this model instead.

Especially when you don't want your smoothie to be too thin, I think the tamper would come in handy.
For the personal blender model, I had to turn it off and manually shake a bit to get the big chucks stuck on top.

Does this thing roar like a jet engine in your ears like the rest of their blenders?

Yes. I cover my ears when I use it.

It is pretty loud.
But it's only on for a minute.
I've had mine for a year and I am impressed with it.
The loudness doesn't bother me.

I have a NutriBullet pro 900 and it's pretty loud too.
Since I got this one I haven't used my NutriBullet because I like this one better.

i guess that's what those inverted fins are for. i have the magic bullet and it is such PITA with thicker contents.
but at this moment, i feel like just get a traditional blender with push rod and call it a day. sometimes you end up with large chunks of fruit that you really need to push down with some force.

I already have a Vitamix. Any pros/cons on using this over the Vitamix to make peanut butter based smoothies?

Have a vitamix that I love, if you are making for multiple people Vitamix is the way to go or if you have time to get the top quality and have money Vitamix is best (they also sell single serve cup adapters but again $$$). If you are just making for yourself as a daily driver the ninja win hands down, I already have a few of these but because the motors are so cheap and can burn out I get an extra on deals like this.

Basically the cleanup is 10x quicker since you are cleaning the cup which is the mixer and then the blade. Easy to use a brush to prevent cutting up your sponges and get the grooves, no brainer at this price imo.

Is this good for smoothies? Which is going to be my only use for it. Also is it good with ice? Thanks in advance!

I have this from Kohls black friday sale. It was more than this price. Solid machine. I normally blend a proteins shake and make a fruit bowl for my kids. Worth buying 100 percet
