i would invest in one of those long stem faucets were the actual shut off part is on the inside of the building.

Not good, in fact it's not good for ANY area that get freezing temperatures because of ball valve design. Once the water is closed the water in the ball portion gets locked in and with freeze it expands and cracks the valve. Best option against freezing is frost free valve and using foam cup on top of that.

If you live in Texas, these were the point of failure in a lot of homes with water damage. Don't do it.

I've had to replace several failed sharkbite fittings. I won't use them at all.

The only thing I can come up with on this is you must be using/used them them incorrectly. Installed the correct way on the right applications these are quite reliable. Use them incorrectly and you increase the likelihood of failure for sure. I've seen plenty used incorrectly.

Install a valve inside the house with a drain. Winter time, shut off the inside valve and drain it. Outside keep the valve open. Problem solved.

Point of failure in Texas is our crap insulation, power outages for 72+ hours in 20 degree weather. Even copper pipes without sharkbites were breaking if you didn't have water running. Part way through the freeze the cut the water off entirely to our houses, so running water did nothing. 10/10 preventable, yet here we are, repeating the same things that happened during the last freeze in the late 90s.

Irregardless of all of this, my sharkbite was fine, on a external wall. So YMMV. That shark bite replaced a soldered connection that ended up leaking over time. It was leaking in the wall and below the tub. The only reason I noticed was the outside wall was wet when we had not had rain in weeks.
