Golf Deal !! Thumbs up 👍🏻
New to golf. Would this work for a beginner? I see they have regular and stiff flex. What's the difference? Annnnd I'm 5'4. Would that affect which set I get?
Stiff vs regular has to do with swing speed. A lot of beginners, if not all, have a slower wing speed, so if you get this, go regular.

I think these would be great for a beginner. At 5'4" you might want a slightly shortened club, but taking off length later is pretty easy.

Seems like a good price. Thanks OP. I've been playing for about a year now and have taken a handful of lessons. Usually shoot between 95 and 105. Still playing my top flite box set irons.

I feel like my swing, while not perfect, is fairly established so have been wanting to get fit and a custom set but don't want to break the bank. I confirmed with my local shop that if I buy these, they could customize for 100-150, depending on how many adjustments need to be made. I know my swing speed and am fairly sure regular flex is right for me.

Can anyone weigh in on whether it would be worthwhile to pick these up and pay to have them customized. Would be $350-$400 all in. And if it would be a significant enough upgrade over my top flites? TIA
Customizing cast irons are somewhat difficult such as lie angle. Lofts are already strong so no change there. I guess the next upgrade is shaft length but you are sticking to regular and presumed standard length. Other than grip, not sure what else to customize?

Thanks for the response. Lie angle is mostly what I am interested in customizing. With my current set, once I adjusted my posture as recommended during my lessons, my toe sits a bit higher than the heal so if that is the case with these I would like to have that adjusted. I don't think it would need to be too drastic.

I am pretty average height so don't think I would need the length altered, but the shop says they can do that if needed. Would probably bump it up closer to 150.

Been using regular shaft irons for the last 12 years (Nikes). Around a 10 handicap and hit the driver 280. Is stiff the way to go? I know I can get better clubs but on a budget

If you're a beginner or your swing speed is likely pretty slow (older, younger, women, shorter, etc…) then you'll almost certainly require regular. But you're correct, a professional fitting will answer that for sure.
You think there would be much difference between the two? I'm having a hard time deciding between regular or stiff flex? I didn't see any specs but maybe I missed it

Flex is dependent on swing speed and everyone's is different.

I've got TaylorMade M2's (2017) and shoot anywhere from 90-105 on average. Would these do much to improve my game if I could sell the TMs?

Anyone know if the shaft length is the full length of the club?

As a beginner… what additional clubs would you all recommend buying at reasonable costs… obviously a sand wedge, putter, and some woods… any bag deals out there?

Costco sells a decent set (GW, SW, LW) of wedges for $170, and decent looking off brand bag that looks like made by Sun Mountain for $160. Costco also has a putter for $150. All quality equipment for reasonable prices.

If youre a 10hcp looking to get to the next level then definitely spend the money to get fit. I'm a 13 and have been teetering on a fit, with basically everyone who is better than me telling me the same.

Only a fitter can tell you what you need, otherwise it's just guessing

What's happening at address is NOT what is happening at impact. The way the shaft flexes through impact is bowed out which drops the toe. All that to say…don't worry about how anything looks at address and the toe up is Normal. You hit off of a lie board to determine lie…again nothing to do with address position of the club head.

I absolutely would not recommend you spend any money on adjusting top flite clubs - I'm not a gear snob by any means, but that is just a waste of money, especially if you plan on continuing to play golf for years to come.

the most cost efficient to achieve what you are looking for is to go get a full fit. During the fit, make sure you get a printout of all of the adjustments you need (since this is golfer dependent, not club set dependent) and also make sure you try out a bunch of shafts and club brands - make note of that too.

Now you can wait until black friday and find deals on 'off the shelf' clubs that you know you like and then have them adjusted at the shop (or buy second hand clubs, you can save a TON of money that way). Conversely, you can go the other route of having your shop just build you your clubs. With the former being likely cheaper than the latter.
