The Promotional Companion Pass is valid from January 4 to March 4, 2023 and allows you to designate one person to fly with you, free of airline charges (does not include taxes and fees from $5.60 one-way) on flights purchased by you, from January 4 to March 4, 2023, booked through Southwest, and completed between January 4 and March 4, 2023. No Rapid Rewards points or tier or Companion Pass qualifying points will be awarded for flights taken by the Companion when flying on a Promotional Companion Pass or Companion Pass reservation. You may change your designated Companion up to three times while you have Promotional Companion Pass. If you earn Companion Pass in 2023 by earning 125,000 Companion Pass qualifying points or flying 100 qualifying flights, any changes to your designated Companion during the time you have a Promotional Companion Pass will reduce the number of changes you can make to your designated Companion in the 2023 calendar year. For example, if you earn a Promotional Companion Pass through this promotion, change your designated Companion twice during the validity period for Promotional Companion Pass, and later in 2023 earn Companion Pass, you would only be able to change your designated Companion one more time in 2023. Companion Pass is non-transferable.

I just bought two RT tickets for $69 each way. Regular price.
Of course, if you don't travel in Jan and Feb, this isn't worth anything to you. The last two years I used the pass 8-10 times....going places like Bozeman, Steamboat Springs, Vegas, and Maui.
So yeah, "almost no one travels" then. Of course they are doing it to pump up a slow travel season. But if you can't find ONE trip in two months, you're not trying very hard.
In fact, when I did this promo last year, my flight got cancelled and I made back $200 in LUV vouchers for a one day delay. So SWA actually paid ME about $70 for the CP.
Plenty of ways to game this system.
Basically when you have a companion pass, you choose one person to fly for free (+ tax/fees) when you book your own ticket.
So if you have a companion and are traveling once a week, you can bring that companion along with you every time and you're only paying their taxes/fees ($12 roughly).
Then at a later date, I will buy another ticket to be paired with the companion pass. Did I get that correct? Dont understand this offer. Thank you!

You can only add one person per purchased ticket, so if you all three are flying together next year, you can get one of your tickets free, and pay for only two (and waste one free CP ticket).
It works best for a couple (one free ticket) or a couple with two kids (two free tickets). In your case, you'll ideally need to find three friends to use all three Companion Passes.

Also do not wait until January to buy the ticket. You want to have the ticket reserved at the best possible price, and add the companion after January starts.
If you're worried about the plane filling up, you may want to reserve both tickets for Jan/Feb (with cash or points) and then cancel the companion's paid ticket when he/she becomes eligible to be ticketed for free.

To clarify: If you have a companion pass you can fly with your companion as much as you want during the period you have the CP, it's not just a one-time free flight for a guest. If you fly 10 times in January/Feb, your companion can fly 10 times with you for free. You can only change the companion 3 times per year though so keep that in mind....

If your November travel is before 11/17, have each person register for the promotion and book their tickets separately. Each of you will then have a CP for January and February, and can each take a free companion for flights during that period.
If I buy a RT ticket for my son (I register but purchase in his name), will I then be able to use the CP for my myself and my spouse?
Or will my son have to register and book for himself and then use the CP by flying himself and a companion? Or can we (his parents) use it?
