These clamps are pretty terrible. There is so much play in the clamp mechanism that any lateral force can deflect the clamp 1/4" inch. Setting the clamp usually causes it to deflect some from where your marks. I end up using trigger clamps set next to it to hold it in place while setting the clamp. Usually I can get it to stay by doing that. You can make it work for a circular saw, but there is too much flex to use it with a router to make straight dados or something that requires you to put pressure against it. I would not buy one of these clamps again. A better solution in my opinion is to just clamp a straight board and use that as a guide.

Came here to say this, "A better solution in my opinion is to just clamp a straight board and use that as a guide." The clamping pressure of this thing is terrible.
