i respect your opinion, it's not for everyone. but i do like to preface that people take something different from all types of media, and this game has a lot of themes you can attribute yourself to: morality, identity, decision-making, and friendship, all with a nice coating of meta on players and video games. it also knows how to have fun with itself but at the same time turns what you know about this genre on its head. if you didn't latch onto those or anything else on your time playing, maybe give it a shot? if you did, then i hope you find another great game to play c:

FYI this game is harder than Elden Ring, but the script is really funny and the game play is a lot of fun.

Fun game. Although in my 30 years of gaming, I can honestly say that I have never spent more time on the final boss than on the rest of the game combined...until I tried fighting Sans.

Beautiful game. This is one of those games where you'll not quite play anything like it again. Highly recommend it if you haven't tried, and to go for the Pacifist ending.

How linear is it? Is there a lot of random exploring/wandering around? And if possible, why is it different from any other cartoony RPG?

it's ~fairly~ linear, the exploration isn't as deep as regular rpgs, mainly dialogue. what it is deep in is its message and reflection on video games and their players, as well as just having fun with itself, which is a breath of fresh air. i thought it was quite beautiful actually, especially considering its gameplay, music, and story, and even more so considering just a single person created it.

It's a good price if it is a game for you. I am glad that I got to try it on Gamepass and almost immediately dismissed it. Not for everyone but a lot of people love it as it has high praise and reviews.
