You'll be eligible for a device upgrade once you've made half of the payments on your current device and returned it to us. Your old device must be returned at an Xfinity retail store in like-new condition or you may be charged the full remaining balance on the device.
Does it mean Xfinity wants my iPhone 13 Pro Max for free, or they will offer a trade in once I pay up to half of the payment? I'm just confused. Can anyone give me a break down on my case?

Looks like this year's $ 400 credit going be 24 monthly credit. Last year I did upgrade two phones and got two 300$ Visa gift cards.
This deal kind of sucks because you are now tied to the phone for two years and won't be able to pay off earlier and unlock it. The unlocking is important for people who are travelling overseas for quite a long time. Now you will have to carry a backup phone when go overseas.
If you're still on instalments / bill credit and don't want to either pay it off in full or want to keep that as a backup ; you can go the "add a line" route. If you're on the XM By the Gig plan, your incremental cost for adding a line is just the taxes and fees. Worth it to pay $2-5 per month for 24 months ($48 - $120) to get $400 off the cost of a new phone.
Or if you have children / a new family member / want to add your partner or other - you may anyway want to add a line.
If you are looking at adding a line and don't have a number available - you can get numbers from Google Voice or Numberbarn; or try the Boost $1 sim, or the Ting $1 sim. XM accepts all of these as valid for "porting in".
