FYI - those new to security cameras .. if you need good low light performance look for cameras that have larger sensors ( in general .. of course there's more nuance to this, but that is a good rule .. )

So far all the Reolink cameras I have seen use more affordable and smaller sensors and do not do well in low light conditions

Rlc-822a only records audio. You are better off buying the 8ch nvr and cameras to fit your needs. I recently sold my 2 nest outdoor iq cameras that were 5 years old for more than I paid for them and bought the reolink.

Very happy with the quality and ease of setup. I would recommend getting one of the 2 way audio cameras with color night vision, the color night vision acts like a flood light (you can turn it off completely, auto, or to come on per a schedule you can setup.), great for areas of your house that are dark, they are very bright...

Very customizable, there's even a buzzer that you can setup to make noise from the dvr when it detects a person (ie ours is setup to make an audible noise when someone is near the front yard).

I have the 2tb dvr with 2 RLC-811A cameras and 1 duo2 180 degree camera, currently get 10 days of 24/7 recording, it is expandable to 6tb internal and 6 tb external via esata. I did have a problem with the duo2 camera spotlights not coming on when person was detected, reolink support responded same day with new firmware update to fix the problem.

Quality is great, can read license plates in daytime 30' away on angle while cars moving 30mph.

I went with this other set for $340 (after clipping $80 amazon coupon), very comparable. 5MP cams instead of 8MP but if you watch side by side videos the difference is negligble between 5MP and 8MP.

I do not have any issues with my RLC-811A cameras, was quite surprised how well they work at nighttime and even better when the color night vision light kicks on.

Here's a great comparison of night vision on security cameras. He has great reviews of a number of security systems.

Probably means that it doesn't have 2-way audio.

It's not a $1k camera, but for $100 it's much better than my $350 nest outdoor iq. Probably won't catch license plates at night especially on moving car. I feel it's a solid diy setup.
