Verifying for ID.me would give a further discount of $71.95 and bring the total price to $1,307.05.

Thinkpad support is on a different level than support for other products. That alone is worth the price of admission.

Needed parts are overnighted to you without question, and on-site help will call you the next business day to coordinate a visit to fix everything. Your machine is replaced if they cannot fix it. All machines have repair manuals with blown-up diagrams detailing every part and their FRU/CRU numbers for easy sourcing.

If you can get on the ground floor for cheap, like with this machine, you will never go back to a consumer machine again. Better than Apple support, and better than MS Surface support by a mile.

The disadvantages, other than cost, are that thinkpads are, in general, not usually the latest and greatest. They took *forever* to update their screens, for example, and even the heaviest machines mainly have power-limited GPUs. Those are where Legions come into play

Nice, though wish this had USB4.

All I want for Christmas is a 6850u/32GB RAM/400 nits low-power 100% sRGB T14s config option.

Check your AMEX offers for $100 off $500. If you have a Player 2, check their AMEX offers too. Could split payment on this and get $200 more off

BF deals might be better, these aren't terrible. Main issue is they don't seem to sell what some want and the 12th gen Intel issues.

14" is the sweet spot
But most of those 14" screens are not great. Is the T14s keyboard shallower than the T14?

More like something wrong when it POSTs. Fan error and makes a noise. Occasional graphics issue when using it. Requires a reboot. Sometimes more than one.

Intel can be depended upon for quick, continuous updates on wifi.

What do we know about Qualcomm wifi?
You can order a replacement Intel AX card on Amazon for like $25~ if you're that worried. They're easy to swap.

Is 400nits enough for working outdoors in the sun or need 500/600nits? Thanks for any experienced feedback.
The 400nit LP on my T14s is actually pretty decent. IMO, it's better than the 500nit privacy screen.

they're definitely not what they used to be though. they really went all-in on the thin and light route. soldered ram? c'mon.

I've noticed that they've done ok with updates. Killer NICs used Qualcomm if I remember correctly.

Nah, like it acts dead. You get the power light but no post. I've had weird issues where I close the lid and it powers off right away and I need to connect the power to it to get it to start and the battery is at 80%. One time I spent 1 hour to get it to boot. I had to pull the battery several times to get it to start.

Overall I bought 5 and all of them have flaky power behavior.

Also, on all of them I have had to tell the USB devices, hubs drivers that the OS cannot control the power of them. I was having issues where Bluetooth would dissappear if I didn't.

Isn't the T16 deal better at a similar price and 2TB SDD?

I think they are all using keyboards with 1.4mm travel now.

I have the T16. I think the difference is the size of the hard drive. A few of us from the T16 deal few weeks back have trouble with the bluetooth. Bluetooth disappears from system after over 30 min use. Powering it down and restarting don't help. Downgrading drivers did not help. The bluetooth just completely disappears. You won't even see it in the device manager.

Is this really a good deal considering ones with dGPU go for around 1100-1400 I know the build quality on this ThinkPad is probably better, but performance wise for the price?

You kept them and are dealing with it or waiting for a fix?

Doesn't state battery life but one of the reviews said they got 3 hours which is a bit disappointing but it's a workstation after all not really a travel machine.
To be fair, look at the MacBook Pro 16. It can easily get 10+ hours of normal office usage.

A 16" laptop with a U series laptop processor and integrated graphics should be getting well over 6-7 hours these days
