ABL seems to be the single complaint I see leveraged against this display. I don't believe it can be disabled, though I've seen a few different settings posted on reddit from people who say they've at least managed to mitigate it a bit. That said, I think it's something that's blown out of proportion. I've been using LG OLEDs for PC gaming for 5 years now and have never noticed an issue with with ABL. Literally never. Granted, they've been TVs I've been exclusively gaming on, this will be my first display I'm doing productivity things on, but I still don't think it's the issue people want it to be. Yes, if you shrink and expand a notepad window quickly, you'll notice a very obvious change. I don't know about everyone else but resizing notepad windows over and over again doesn't really fit into my workflow routines. When things are static and the display has adjusted, I don't believe there will be obvious brightness changes happening. During quick color changes you'll see it. Sure, I'd prefer not to. Is that something that is worth paying an additional $600/$900 to lessen (and in either case, still not totally eliminate)? Definitely not to me. If you were doing some sort of work where color accuracy is paramount, I could see that being a dealbreaker, but I'd probably call any OLED monitor off the table at that point. For everyone else, these OLED displays are going to deliver jaw dropping gaming and content delivery and should still be extremely acceptable for normal desktop and productivity.

I'm less inclined to think the price is because of "Aorus problems" and more just a combination of the right circumstances. Normally the display is $999, which isn't too far under the competing 48" OLEDs. For the underdog brand, that's the right price. Over the summer, we saw 48" C1's going for $800, which is pretty much the obvious choice at that price point. Now that they've dried up, I think the $200 rebate is more Gigabyte simply trying to capitalize on remaining interest at that price point. I think this specific deal is unintentional, especially since even though Gigabyte still lists the $200 rebate as valid thru the end of the month, Newegg no longer has it listed on their website. Thus, it's still being advertised as $800, not $600, and assuming the rebate goes through (which I believe it will).. the only way you'd see that price is via SD. That extra $200 might be something Newegg is doing to draw people to them since the rebate is being offered at other sites also, or it might just be a play by them to move as many units as they can during what I suspect is a normally slow time for displays/tvs as people dig in and wait for black friday deals (where folks shopping for something like this are no doubt crossing their finger for an $800 48/43 C2).

As burn in goes, I feel like that's a coin toss. As im sure you know, from a hardware standpoint, they're all the same LG panel. Any advantage or disadvantage would be software based. LG has pixel shift, but I wouldn't want that in a monitor anyways, I think that's something most people who use it as a display tend to turn off. The Auorus has a pixel refresher same as the LG, and both it and the Asus should have a leg up by having some monitor specific power control stuff that the LG TVs lack. At the end of the day though, with burn in, that's a risk you take with any OLED, and that risk gets exacerbated using an OLED display as a desktop monitor. There is no doubt in my mind that on a modern OLED display, burn in can be avoided if you take the appropriate precautions. If you treat it like every other display, you've had before it though, you're asking for a bad time. Even on my old B7A, back before LG implemented many of their burn in mitigation techniques, I used that monitor for several years with a PC and never saw a lick of burn in. You just gotta be smart about it.
I agree with everything but I saw a YouTube reviewer said the ABL was very noticeable just programming. They mentioned with a full screen of text it would dim and brighten while they were typing, and also it would sometimes dim and eventually go black (like to sleep), somehow not recognizing they were still coding (I.e only a small section of screen was changing). I think with gaming this wouldn't be a problem. I guess we should find it interesting why this has lg panel with DP but is significantly cheaper than LG? Asus model is more expensive than LG.

I think it's great, however I'm using it as a TV with a Firestick 4K, it's too big to use as a monitor for my desk. I tried it while I put it through its paces, I think a 34" ultrawide will be the sweet spot for me there.

As a TV, it's working out great, I just can't figure out how to pair the Firestick remote to it if at all possible. One thing that grates on me about it is when it switches modes between various resolutions or SDR/HDR, it's slow, you're stuck on a black screen for a bit and the sound is even more delayed. Not a problem with most PC usage, but if you hook a console up to it or browse streaming shows a lot it gets annoying.

Picture quality is like most OLEDs absolutely delightful and the motion clarity is amazing. It's sufficiently bright for my room setup, glad I bought it.
Just got mine a couple hours ago. Bought a 32 inch deep desk in preparation and its absolutely awesome so far. What a deal for $600 (as long as rebate goes through). Playing games is so immersive with this huge screen. I have noticed on large white screens the screen dims a bit but I actually kind of like that as that is hard on my eyes especially at night. Set everything to dark mode and am excited to play it in a pitch black room later tonight!

Interesting to hear that ABL was noticeable during programming. My guess is that's something you could eliminate by tweaking some brightness settings a bit.

As for pricing, I can speculate a few things. Most importantly is just that, there is more to cost than the panel. As for the LG, remember that it is a TV. You've got things like four full speed HDMI 2.1 ports (where as the Auros has none at all). LG has Dolby Vision, which means you are paying for the licensing cost of that. They've got other things going on in the software and processing side of things, things you'd want for a TV that you would not want or need for a monitor. At their normal prices, it makes sense that the Auros would be ~$200 less than the LG. And as for Asus, and why it's the most expensive of the three... well, it's the best of the three (for desktop use). Asus has the best software suite for this purpose. They also (I think) have actual full bandwidth 2.1 ports. You get a better stand too. Ultimately, though, you're paying an Asus tax.

When comparing these monitors at their normal selling prices of $1000 / $1200 / $1500... it's harder to choose which is best. My money would probably fall in the middle with the tried and true LG. But double-dipping on discounts and getting this one for $600 makes the auros a no brainer. This display for $600 will be an insane deal, easily worth dealing with its shortcomings.

Mine finally arrived today. IT'S IN PERFECT CONDITION. No dead pixels. No crap laminated between the pannel and the outer protective layer. Nothing's cracked or skuffed. The Box it came in got slammed aorund a bit but the monitor survived!

Praise tech jesus.

Received the monitor today. Images don't appear flat. Kind of looks convexed. Maybe it's just my eyes. Has anyone else noticed this, or might I have a defective monitor.

Do you normally use a curved monitor?

Yes... previous monitor was a Dell 38" Widescreen Model U3818DW with a slight concave curve.

When I look at this 48" Auros, it appears the opposite as if the center bulges forward, like a convex curve.

It feels quite strange. Other than that, picture looks very nice. Maybe it's just something I need to get use to.

Just curious if anyone else is experiencing anything similar.

Mine is near perfect as well, but I have one dead pixel on the right side of the screen where the scroll bar is. I don't even notice it so I'm not going to bother returning it.

Your vision might be distorted from using a curved monitor for so long. Apparently this is a thing that can happen. But it should correct over a few weeks

It's really interesting that you posted this. The exact same thing is happening to me. I went from a 38" LG ultrawide, which is pretty much the same dimensions as your Dell, and the same 2300R curve as your dell. I too feel as if the center of the screen is buldging out towards me. I had never considered that it could have been from using a curved display before. I thought it was maybe it was something my glasses (which i've only been using for about 2 months, so still getting used to) were doing in combination with the very large screen size.

Aside from that, everything is indeed perfect. The display is a monster. Honestly, I wish it was a 42", but I think I'll get used to it. I do have an arm coming today, I think that will help, since I can drop it down an inch or so, and also tilt it slightly downward. Otherwise, it's an OLED, and looks as perfect as any other. At $600, it's an insane bargain. And while I've noticed the auto dimming doing some desktop work, only when switching tabs or something... never on a static screen... and it's never been a problem. Just, something I've noticed. I can tell it's not going to bother me.

Pulled the trigger on this last Sunday night. Monitor arrived Friday afternoon. Box has a very minor nick but didn't even make its way to the Styrofoam. No dead pixel or any damage. Couldn't be happier. Just posting this for search reasons should it come up again on SD.
