Technically they are still a wired headset. Check out what it says under the requirements. If it doesn't specify the connection types, then it might be fine. Worst case, you can send them as soon as the new ones come in and they'll reject and you'd have to return the buds2.
Best case, it's successful and you report back to the comments that it worked and SD'ers will hoist you up on their shoulders while chanting your name and you'll forever be remembered as the one who found out about dual-prong airline ear bud trade ins.
But I'd say it depends on how badly you want the buds2.
There's no trade-in option anymore.
