Here is another bike on clearance for $98 free s/h (was 398).

Men's 27.5" Decathlon ST100 [walmart.com]

I realize this is not the same level of the original post but good deal for a bike.

LOL at thumbs down. Some people will down anything…

"You've saved $10 with WOWFRESH promo code"

Amex Everyday Bluecash supposedly 3% for online orders, YMMV if this counts for pickup...

In for one. I bought a bike for $20 that needed work yesterday....so that's backburner now LOL.

29ers are not the most comfortable bikes for shorter adults & kids. Might be the most efficient wheel size for racing and knarly tech climbs, but if a medium-large bike frame is too big for a rider, chances are that they should stick with 27.5" wheels, and if really young, even 26".
Good point. My kids is on 24" but can ride my 26". But he's pretty good and really into it. So I want to try something bigger for him

I'm 5'7" and I fit fine. Got 350mm seat post for $10 on Amazon and I can flat foot on one side

I am 6 ft and I found it a bit bigger for me.
So the 5'7" person fits fine, but it's too big for the 6'0" person? That doesn't make sense to me. I'm 5'9" and I'm not sure if it will fit me.

I bought this and prefer building it myself - if I decide to return it in store, anyone know if I have to disassemble it and put it back into box (which is nearly impossible), or can I just roll into Walmart and return?

you can just walk it back in. I picked up a fat tire bike and had buyer remorse withing 30 days. I hung the tags on it and walked it back in. Dont ride it in, they might get pissy then

This is a great deal, solid frame bike. If you upgrade the bike in a few areas. The bike will be more competent. I originally purchased this bike 2 years ago at $398 after careful reviews of other bikes. And for the money, it was the best bike for me because it could easily handle a rider that weighs over 250 lbs and height of 6 foot 1

For those who picked it up in store, does the bike come in a box or does it come preassembled?

Is this a good bike for someone who is just getting into biking?
Mountain biking, yes. Neighborhood, on road, not as much since the design makes a lot of compromises for off road riding. Kind of like a lifted pickup with mudding tires can be used for around town delivers but it would ride as well as our get the milage of a typical family hauler crossover.

so how would this be for an ebike conversion ? The chainring looks small...but nice to have disk brakes at this price.
Makes a good ebike conversion. Didn't want to drop 5-10K on a real emtb.

Tongshen TSDZ2b mid drive $280 + 48v 12.5ah $200 pspower.com +OSF firmware will get you close to a Bosch unit.

Dang just spent $100 more on the blue one not too long ago. Good deal though.
Edit: decided to open a return, even though I upgraded a few parts already probably worth the extra $100 back. And I like black on black better anyways :p

I have been using Wally Mongoose $89 bike for 10 years for neighborhood sidewalk rides for cardio.

Would this be a good upgrade from my current ride for neighborhood rides (while keeping option for trail riding open for someday)?

I ordered but am within cancellation period.

Will Walmart install it or should we have to install it ourselves?

Check out kevcentral Schwinn Axum Mountain Bike on youtube. If this bike were a medium, I would have been all over it.. Very nice bike; especially for the price..

It's 100% fine for neighborhood rides as long as your not doing 20mph in the flats and 40 going down hills. The gearing is going to limit it to about 18mph doing 90 RPM, but I'm betting that is not an issue.
