Nah my build is too rich for Kev central lol. But if I had to go back I wouldn't have done what I did, I built a trail bike that's only just competent on black trails when I mainly ride it on blue trails - my Polygon D7 is still more capable and I reserve that for black trails. I could have spent $420 less and ended up with a bike better for the blue trails that I ride the Axum on. The one thing I wouldn't cheap on is the fork - the Manitou Markhor or Epixon are cheap and reliable so no reason to get a chinese brand fork with questionable reliability.

Overall though I guess the money was well spent - I ride the Axum the most of all my bikes and the upgrades have held up so far where my previous builds where I focused on budget parts failed a lot earlier under less abuse.

Lol. Ok, I thought you might be hiding your personal build from the channel exactly because of how spendy it got.

I'm probably going to go with the fork, brakes, pedals, and bb as my first upgrades.

Some people will only look at price but there is an immense satisfaction to improving a machine to a better state. Tangible results using your hands is going the way of the dodo so it's good to see others keeping it going.

Exactly, every time I ride my Axum im always impressed at how well it performs and how much it can handle (despite not being at full suspension levels, it can still handle more than most hardtails in the class/price range).

Also the surprise look on my hardcore friends faces when they rode it after the fork install and seeing and hearing peoples' surprise at seeing a Schwinn shredding at the bike park was priceless

I got a Bosch e-hardtail for $3k and the Axum is more capable and stable at high speed. I was gonna go Bafang on my Axum but I got the Bosch Ebike for half price so it was hard to pass up

Bike park? So no gnarly mountain trails? This trail separates the cheapo forks found on the very entry level bikes from the mid/upper tier ($600+) bikes. I call it my Motrin ride. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A8CuopGkO54

i rode a couple black trails rockier than that (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pTEwA4-xXY is one of them) but now I stick with blue trails for the Axum cuz my full suspension handles them better and I rarely go to black trails now so I want to take the FS whenever I can. The Markhor did handle them ok but yeah nothing compared to the Z2 bomber I slapped on my full suspension.

That trail you post looks mild with no rocks, roots, or baby heads.

Thats only the rock garden part, theres other vids, same with the bike park vid, thats only a small part of the park. This is the other black trail I go to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLBc4beYkQ4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4M6lXqB6G6g, the Axum can't do it fast at all which is why I don't even bother taking it there anymore.

friend used but near new. He bought it for $1k less than what I paid him in mint condition from offerup but he did about $500 worth of upgrades and no way I could find a deal as good as he did (bike was $5k new after taxes).

If I converted to an ebike, I would get the CYC X1 Stealth motor. It's torque sensing, but uses a chain and separate gearbox. It should be much more robust than other offerings. I had a TSDZ2 but it started making noises after a few months so I took it off. The internals just don't hold up as well, granted I was pulling my son behind me with a Followme Tandem.

I would do it again but only if I had parts laying around or planned on a very slow build over time (like I did). I went with a bomber z2 @130mm, nukeproof horizon v2 boost wheelset, brand-x dropper, sram dub bb w/ GX crankset, advent x drivetrain and some other bits and bobs. It handles things pretty well and the build was fun. Of course, I rode it mostly stock for a a whole lot of miles (upgraded brakes, crankset/bb and touch points pretty quick) so it wasn't so bad and now im going to swap almost all of these parts to a Ripley af frame.
I will say, the 130mm was a bit much. The bike suffers on tech climbs now.

What were you running? 48V? There's a TSDZ2B version so I wonder if this fixes some issues.

TSDZ2B:It is new version,so the main gear is double clutch

New version TSDZ2B has two clutches designed on the main gear, Main gear is disengaged from the chain during riding, So it feels as easy to ride as a bicycle; Old version TSDZ2 rides with main gear, Main gear turns with small gear.So the riding resistance is larger than bicycle
