Here is another bike on clearance for $98 free s/h (was 398).

Men's 27.5" Decathlon ST100 [walmart.com]

I realize this is not the same level of the original post but good deal for a bike.

LOL at thumbs down. Some people will down anything…

"You've saved $10 with WOWFRESH promo code"

Amex Everyday Bluecash supposedly 3% for online orders, YMMV if this counts for pickup...

In for one. I bought a bike for $20 that needed work yesterday....so that's backburner now LOL.

I think it'll be a crapshoot honestly. I bought for curbside pickup and it was boxed.
My store pickup was cancelled 2 hours before I was going to leave for the store. No stock. My only option was to have the bike shipped to my place. The box came in with a bit of "wear and tear," so I was worried that some parts may be damaged. Luckily, there was no damage, and I was able to assemble the bike. I struggled with the front wheel a bit, but all was good in the end. Just a minor front brake cable adjustment. If you decide to assemble the bike yourself, I definitely recommend watching the YT video below. It helped me A LOT. I hope it helps.

Is truing a wheel difficult? First bike came with bent rotors and out of round wheels. Ordered a second one and it came with a bent drop-out hanger and also bent wheels. Wondering if I should order a 3rd one or just try fixing the first one

Can I ride this bike in a beginner mountain biking trail?

Can I return it back to Walmart in case it's not a good fit?

I second that video, it's what I used too! Very helpful since I haven't owned or ridden a bike in probably 20 years. I also fought the front wheel as well, until I realized I had screwed on the quick release nut too tightly and it wasn't giving room to seat the fork on it. After that it went right on. I've found that the more you curse, the easier it is once you figure out what you did wrong 😂

I have been watching this thread since it was created and thought multiple times I was ready to pull the trigger and order the Axum. But I then found a used Trek 750 Multi-track bike on FB Marketplace and ended up purchasing it. My use case is paved/gravel trails in town and i think the Trek 750 will be a better fit for that use case.

Mine is out for delivery today..... hoping they don't just leave it out in the rain like Amazon tends to do (seriously, who the hell leaves a box of TOILET PAPER in the rain?). Not that the bike will be hurt by the rain, but the box will become a mess.

It can handle moderate trails stock. I modded mine and took it to black-level hard trails and a bike park but stock its capable of a lot.

The deal is still going. They must have a gazillion of these in inventory or people don't know a great bike deal when they see one.

Should I get a second one for spare parts?

Lol. Kevin is providing good info and someone is downvoting him every post. I balance it by liking his posts.

Does it make any sense to spend an extra $130 for Axum over Decathlon st100 for casual use?

Yes it's more capable on the road too. Wheels are 30 mm and tires are 29x2.6 - just for comparison I spent $232 alone just to change the front wheel to fit the new wide standard fork I put on my Axum and that's considered cheap for a bike wheel.

The stock wheel is 30 mm inner diameter which is already wider than the wheels that come on most bikes in the $700-1000 range) Value and capability wise the Axum is the better deal. The Axum will be more comfortable, brake better, and handle the street imperfections and debris a lot better than the Decathlon. Also, since the wheels and tires are 29" vs 27.5" on the decathlon and the tires are still fast rolling, it's likely faster on the road too

Also, the resale will be much higher on the Axum. You might be able to sell for more than you paid even after using it

P.s. Lol, the dv's accelerating. Downvoters live short miserable lives. Facts.

I'm going to say it depends. The Decathlon is a lot more like a 90s mtb. It's not as good off road. However, if "off road" is relatively smooth paths and most of what you want to do is ride around the neighborhood/town then the compromises needed to make the Axum better offroad will make it less comfortable around town. It will also take more effort to ride around town. Think Jeep Wrangler with the extra off road packages vs Toyota RAV4. Yeah, the RAV4 can actually do some offroad driving, certainly more than a typical car. However, it can't do what a Wrangler can do. But the Wrangler makes you pay for that extra off road ability in the form of gas mileage and ponderous handling on road. The RAV4 is much better if your offroad work is light and you will be driving on the highway more often than not.

The Axum is more specialized and certainly much more capable off road but for casual riding it's probably going to be a disappointment in comparison.

I ride it on the road to get to the trails near me, it's still relatively fast and turns fast. It'll prob be less responsive handling wise than the decathlon since it's like 6 lbs heavier but it should have a higher top speed with the 29" wheels and tires. Plus the tires are more gravel than off-road, they're pretty fast. If the questioner isn't aiming for top speed but cruising I think the Axum is still the better deal, it'll be a lot more cushiony (29x2.6 absorb a lot, if they covert to tubeless it'll be even more cushier) and able to handle abuse and the disc brakes will be stronger
