Here is another bike on clearance for $98 free s/h (was 398).

Men's 27.5" Decathlon ST100 [walmart.com]

I realize this is not the same level of the original post but good deal for a bike.

LOL at thumbs down. Some people will down anything…

"You've saved $10 with WOWFRESH promo code"

Amex Everyday Bluecash supposedly 3% for online orders, YMMV if this counts for pickup...

In for one. I bought a bike for $20 that needed work yesterday....so that's backburner now LOL.

I bought this bike last week and am very impressed. Rides smooth and stable. Feels high quality, especially at price point. Also, for those asking about size, I'm 6'3" and it is plenty large

What's odd is the website says 5'10" + but the bike wheel insert says 6'0"+; as I said I'm just over 5'10" and the bike is probably a touch large for me, but not horribly so.

Is this the same as what it's called a 20 Niner bike?

Agree, I was worried it would be too small so in my case was pleasantly surprised when I got it with that insert. Hopefully you can make it work as it feels great thus far. I had the lady test it and it didn't swallow her up as bad as I thought at 5'8.5" but was too much so would think you're right on the cusp

How do these Schwinn bikes compare to the lower end bikes on Direct bikes? Like this $299 Motorbecane:http://www.bikesdirect.com/produc...-bikes.htm

Or this 7 speed Gravity: http://www.bikesdirect.com/produc...-bikes.htm

Ok just noticed the brakes are different.

If it helps anyone else, I bought this for my fiancé and she is around 5'6" and we cut the seat tube so we can get it lower and she loves it. Upgraded the brakes to shimano mt200 hydraulic brakes and got new pedals and it's a seriously incredible bike.

Just for reference, I ride a $1200 Trek Roscoe 6 and I would happily take this bike and add $1000 in upgrades. Would be miles better than than what the Trek offers especially if you can find good deals on aftermarket parts.

How easy is it to upgrade the brakes?

Practically bolted right on. The only thing I had to adjust was two washers on the front bracket to extend the bracket/caliper out cause the rotor was barely rubbing against the back of the caliper. I ordered a $50 set on eBay and all the cables were pre connected and the correct length so they didn't need to be cut.

Agreed. I need to lean way over to reach the bars at riding height. Can I just jam more spacers in to raise the bar height?

Are the 800/1350 sets long enough for the rear?

How easy is it to cut the seat tube? Hacksaw?

Get the Axum, you can upgrade a ton with the rest of the money - fork, brakes, pedals for prob less than ur budget. No other bike can match it's geometry and even the no name 1x and brakes for $228, let alone $600

I saw this bike and started reading the thread. I assume it won't compare to my Kona, but there are times I want some non skinny street tires, and this deal looks amazing for a decent second bike. Your comments helped a lot, and...wondering if anyone asked, but what about the linked bike below? It's a little more expensive, but neither have a list of what components are there. I like this one for the taller tires to be what I am use to, but I saw that one and was wondering.

Can anyone who has had both comment on mechanical vs hydraulic disc brakes?
