This is also not a $400 MSRP bike by any stretch of imagination, this is a $120-150 bike, or at least it was pre-pandemic.
Good value for riding around the neighborhood or gifting to a wife or a kid that won't try crazy shit on it.

I would go with the Axum. If you get into riding off road it does have room to grow and it's layout is more like a modern mountain bike. Things like disc brakes are nice if you will ride in wet or muddy places.
However, if your real intent is mostly on road then this bike is better since it's more like a hybrid bike. Think of it like buying an SUV. If most of the time you will drive on dry, clear roads and occasionally on a semi-snowy road you are likely better off with a car based crossover. But if you are going to venture into muddy fields then something with better off road abilities at the expense of on road makes sense (4Runner, Jeep Wrangler).
I am not sure if I really will do any trails or not thought. I dont even have a bike carrier to take this to trails. Also since I am in the northeast, so not a great place to bike.
Here's a video that looks like it's the same model (this also looks familiar from when I did it): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oABg9l

26", 27.5" and 29" are tire diameter for adult mountain bikes.
They are not sizes for bikes themselves. Bike sizes are either S,M, L or by the length of the seat tube, e.g. 16", 18", etc.
You can be 5' and still ride a 29" bike in size S and you can be 6' and ride a 26" bike in size L.
Road bikes come in tire size 700C (similar to older 27" tire). They are very narrow tires (to ride only on paved roads) compared to MTB tires.
I bought this a few months ago for $198. I don't know much about bikes but it seems nicer than my wife's $100 Walmart Roadmaster bike, so for $98 I'd say it's totally worth it if you need a basic bike. I do not plan on using this for actual mountain biking, just riding around town, parks and some dirt/gravel trails with my family.
I tried chatting with Walmart customer service about getting a price adjustment since it's still within the return period. After a lot of back and forth (first offered me a $5 promo code, then offered to help me with a return/rebuy) they finally offered me a $50 refund (best they could do apparently). It's not the full difference but it was worth it for a little bit of my time and not having to return/rebuy.
looks very similar, not sure about the quality yet.
