Anything that is recycled is taken to the back room/stock area and put into a large box that is on a shipping pallet. Every so often once the box is full, that box is shrink wrapped and picked up by the "returns truck" and it all goes to an e-waste recycler.
Knowledge about this is from me working for Staples for 8 years. I was Electronics supervisor for 6 of those 8 years with keys to the store, and I was their "Inventory Associate" for a year.
I took in a corded mouse and a couple of useless car chargers and the manager said "You are our first tech recycler!" She seemed happy about it and printed out a receipt. I go by this store several times a month so once a month I will drop off a couple things. Like all of you, I have numerous RS-232 cables, serial port connectors, a couple dozen RCA cables and other useless junk. If they can recycle it and I get 5.00 for a 5 minute stop, it's all good.

do we need to buy ink to recycle ink any more?
Is the $5 hardware recycling a now monthly addition to the rewards program or is it for specific dates?
Does the "plus" program double this offer the same way ink/tonner has done in the past?
