Aer Lingus is known for losing luggage and is hard to track down support for updates or compensation.

I have no idea if that's their track record, but they were a fine airline to fly back in June to Ireland. They were friendly and their meals and snacks were actually pretty good. Our luggage was in fine shape as well.

If you look at any of their reviews on different travel sites, they have a bad track record. Even going on their Twitter account will show tons of people complaining about their lost luggage.

I had a great experience flying Aer Lingus from Dubrovnik to JFK a few months ago. Everything was timely and staff was friendly. No luggage lost or damaged.

My daughter and her husband were in the Dublin airport to come back to the states on Aer Lingus when their computer systems shut down about a week or so ago. Needless to say thousands were affected. They had to stay at a hotel for a couple of more days before they could get a flight back. Two more days of hotels, meals and cab fares. Not sure yet if they will receive any compensation.

FYI. This was caused by a cut data cable in the UK. Not representative of the airline or airport.

Aer Lingus apparently made some poor decisions choosing redundancy options for their computer system connectivity. I would say that is somewhat representative of the company. My daughter has yet to receive an offer of compensation for having to spend 2 additional days away.

Same price to fly out of JFK.

EDIT - Also price does not include checked on luggage and advance seat selection. $375 is bare bones carry on only. And they charge you $2 to confirm your registration via SMS!
