Features:
  • Serve up chewable, crunchable, craveable nugget ice that's ready fast and retains its flavor, unlike traditional hard cubes; Refreshing nugget ice is made from compacted ice flakes and is perfect for cocktails, sodas and other beverages
  • Never run out of nugget ice; This ice maker produces one pound of fresh ice per hour and has a large-capacity bin that holds up to 3lbs of crunchable nugget ice
  • Easily move your ice maker as needed. No water hookup required, just plug it into any 120v grounded (standard) electrical outlet and fill the reservoir with water. As ice melts, the water returns to the reservoir, where it will simply be made back into more ice.
  • Produce approximately 3X more ice with a side tank that easily attaches to the ice maker

One of the items that you should wait until Costco has a sale on, for the easy exchange/returns . That said, great price!

Love mine. We don't have a freezer in the kitchen and we use this to schedule ice so it's always available. It runs 7am-3pm and 6pm-7pm. A little noisy, but not distractingly. The schedule feature allows it to make ice when we're not in the kitchen and top off some in the evening. The door is double paned so it insulates well enough that the ice doesn't melt too fast. What does melt gets recycled.

I do too but don't you need a commerical ice maker for that? Or make your own ice through in custom ice trays

Great machine! Love our Opal. I had a first gen model when these were first introduced and it made squealing sounds so loud we had to get rid of it. They have since improved. Recommend buying from Costco for added safety in return options.

Get the Gen 2. If your Gen 1 breaks the one they send back won't have smart scheduling or connectivity.

How? I am hearing even people cleaning once very 1 to 2 weeks have mold. What is your secret?

Have you looked into the internal reservoir?

Mine had a mold issue, even though I was following cleaning instructions religiously. Then I stopped using tap water and filtered the hell out of all water I put in it. It's annoying and takes several cycles to fill the reservoir, but the ICE is perfect now, with no signs of impurities.
