ive been in the custodial arts for over 2 decades ,doiung both commercial and residential cleaning let me tell ya ,as expensive as mieles are they are the main brand of vacuum we use for their longegevity and usefulness and yes bagged vacuums require you to? BUY NEW BAGS! you dont have to get miele brands theres plenty of non-oem on ebay, oldest model is a S514 its probably over 20 years old,we use one at our home, btw the older ones made in germany are the best ive seen some new ones made in asian countries and they seem flimsy
Have your parents call Best Quality Vacuum Repair and say "I need a dust filter for a Hoover Max extract pressure pro model 60."
My parents' canister Miele just died after 29 years. Mine is going on 9 years and still works just as good as new. These things are awesome.

I just got the C3 Complete for $800+tax, $200 lower than OP posted. No way I was passing that up. I'm kinda excited as this thing is $1,299 everywhere and I've missed my Miele upright since we sold it after our new house is mostly hard floors.
Dang, this looks to be the best prices I've ever seen on these. Been wanting a C3 for years now but every time any deal comes up I just don't have the funds 🙄
Oddly enough. as I was browsing around on there I saw a separate entry (same SKU) for the Triflex Pro that was already marked down 10% to $809.10, and the SAVEMORE coupon still stacked to bring it to $509.10 – just $100.10 more than the regular Triflex after the discount code. (Miele's own site indicates a 10% Triflex promotion through the end of the month, but that doesn't show up on the regular model here.)
I think the only difference is the additional battery and charging cradle, but additional batteries for any higher-end cordless stick vacuum will cost at least that much and usually more.
