I believe Kohler has a lifetime limited warranty, you can call them and ask for replacement. I did it twice for the kitchen faucet that came with the house (i.e. I didn't purchase or install it), and they honored the warranty.

Moen will honor warranty regardless of prior ownership. Never had an issue getting replacement costs for free. Delta has been good too.

As I said, my experience with Kohler is different, after honestly telling them that I am not the original owner, and don't have info about when and where it was purchased from.

New shower head first time and full new faucet second time (as they were no longer producing the old type). Zero cost for me, replaced it myself.

Kohler warranty is good, they don't require proof, I had a Kohler kitchen sink for 10 years , every 2 years it starts leaking, call up and they send new diverter valve and gaskets no questions. Finally got tired of fixing it and bought something new.
