Even at this price I won't bite. Reviews tell of common issues with these types of smokers; the heating element failing early, doesn't seal, paint flakes off, too hot..etc.

DO NOT BUY. I trashed mine after 3 months because the interior powdercoating started peeling and making the food taste like chemicals. Master built will not cover any paint issues under warranty and would do nothing for me.

I want an electric smoker so any suggestions?

I already ordered this before reading things, but I'll cancel when I find a better one.

I started with a brinkman electric I picked up on clearance for 10 bucks or so. Gave it away after 1st use. Moved on to a off set for a few years. but got tired of having to say up all night.
Moved on to a WSM, Fantastic ran it until I picked up a gravity last Christmas Now my R2D2 sits in in cornerMad I Keep looking at electric smokers just for doing jerky but nothing seems to work out of the box according to reviews.

That's what I want to do, jerky, but I'm not having much luck.

I have this and I don't recommend it. I'm not sure if it's just my place but every time I use it it shorts the circuit. I tried it on another outlet and it did the same thing even on low heat. I thought it was a defective unit and received another heating element but that did the same thing. Great customer service from Masterbuilt though.

Cheap option as a dedicated cerakote oven (never used for food).

Thanks for bringing that to my attention. Might as well be top 100 VINE.

My wife got this exact model off Amazon for fathers day this year and after 5 cooks it won't heat up. Save your money. Very disappointed with this smoker, but pleasantly surprised with Amazon who gave me a full refund and Masterbuilt sending me a new heating element.

I have the Dual-Fuel charcoal/propane version of this and it is completely fine for quick cooks under 6 hours. If you plan on anything longer it's just not worth it as you're constantly fighting to keep the temp regulated, the charcoal pan full, or running out to get more propane. I've made some great food on the smoker but it's really only for quick stuff now (wings, chicken, burnt ends, turkey, fish, sometimes ribs).

I've had a similar model for 6 years now and have not used mine for 4, so the caution reviews check out. I used this for my early smokes, but really started using it for jerky. Did good for that, but that's about it.

Recommend getting a barrel smoker like the OK Joe's bronco. About as hands off of a smoker experience that you can have without selling your soul for a pellet smoker.
