always look at a fans blades. if they are flat and not curved, the fan is not going to move much air.

Thinking about getting one of these and making it into an air purifier.

Then get the one with a drop in filter holder and upgraded motor.

This pushes a lot of air around. I put it in my window each night to act as a whole house fan and it works pretty well

Motor is not strong enough for that and may fail before its time.

Lasko makes a special unit with upgraded motor that can handle any filter up to MERV 13, which I use.

I recently got a Honeywell HF910 for Corsi boxes. Much quieter than box fans like this.

I have two and while they are loud, they don't vibrate. I've owned many over a few decadesb and I'd recommend taking it back for an exchange, as it's not normal.

Thanks op for posting this deal. Buy one one as backup.

Great points and comments about motor not being powerful enough. I did buy one of these and using right angle metal brackets on the sides and bottom, i slip in a merv13 filter in the back. Going on six months of pretty much running it 24/7, no issues so far. If it fails, will use this purchase to replace the previous one.

As a sidebar, I do notice a difference between not using the fan/filter setup versus nothing at at all. The dust on the furniture is significantly less when compared to not using anything. I think it is a very cheap solution as an air purifier. Be sure to change the merv13 often.
