Often times there is an open box for ~$670 if you can manage to snag one. Got one with 4 cycles on it but no longer eligible for apple care, looks mint even though it stated there were 1" imperfections. Did not come in any Apple box but did come with stock charger.

The Pro has 1 additional GPU core for better performance and a bigger battery that should get you around 2 additional hours of battery life. The Pro is slightly thicker and heavier vs the Air.

I concur. I grabbed a 512gb M1 Air a couple of weeks ago for $760 and it was in great shape physically (lucked out with applecare plus being present as well). Just gotta keep checking in a few times a day to grab these deals as they pop up on Amazon warehouse.

Also the pro has a touchbar. Some people like it. I found it distracting on mine but to each their own. The pro also has a fan for if you're doing anything intensive

Before it starts: No, 8GB of RAM on Apple silicon isn't somehow magically equivalent to 16GB on an Intel or AMD powered computer from Apple or anyone else. 8GB = 8GB. Is 8GB enough for you in this MacBook or in any other computer? Probably.
